Straight Piped 6.7 ???

Just wondering if anybody has straight piped there 6.7 and had any luck and how she sounds. Or if there is a good aftermarket exhaust for it.

Also wonder if straight piping would help the problems the 6.7's have been having with the ash collector or what ever it is that keeps clogging.

Just had my 01 totaled on friday and loved driving the 6.7

I know the exhaust brake will sound swwweeeetttttttt straight piped

I don't think the ECM will operate properly without ALL the stock components attached.

I was reading on the duramax forums that some guys had removed it and it was working perfectly.

you could remove the muffler and leave the DPF system alone, i dont know it would change the sound much?

Well i went and bought a 07 mega with the 6.7 and manual 6 speed on Tuesday. All i can say is i CANT WAIT to hear some turbo and some rumble. The exhaust brake will be awesome with some pipe.

I wonder if going to a 5 or 6 inch pipe after the catalist thingy would sound any good, of coarse with no muffler. Or maybe 5 inch to a 6 inch tip.

It has been done with success. Know someone who did it with a little trickery to the ECM. Got a big increase in mileage too.

I don't know the full details on how she did it and YES SHE DID IT (for her friend who owns the truck)!! She is on here and I will PM her to see if she can chime in or PM someone to do it. If I remember right, he is getting like 2 or more mpg.

Ya know, there might be one or two rich Edit on here that could care less about tearing up a new $50K truck and don’t care about the 3/36... Maybe that one guy wants to straight pipe it. For that one guy, can we all hear from the "lady" who did this or see or hear some pictures...???? I WANT TO SEE THIS (this post was said in a fun "funny" type way, I was not disrespecting any forum members)

I asked repeatedly at the dealership if straight piping the exhaust would void the warranty and they were getting annoyed around the tenth time i asked. They said no it wouldnt void the warranty. They said if anything went wrong with the exhaust it would not be covered. I didnt ask about taking off the emissions stuff though for a true straight pipe.

New member here so would like to say hello to each and all here... I have, what was new 07' Ram 3500 4X4 Quad cab truck with the new 6.7 and the 68RFE six speed tranny.
I bought this as a work truck and I use it 5 days a week hauling vehicle parts to all the major dealers on a given route that averages 400-600 miles a day... The Ram drags a 27' gooseneck doing so.

Its my first ever Dodge as I have always been a Ford guy and still have the last new Ford I bought which is a well cared for and heavily modified 95' Stroker. The new Dodge I bought has done nothing but impress me from the start.
I am also one that needs a few modifications to this new 6.7 truck and one of the most importance to me is getting all this emission stuff off this motor.

I think the Gov't is selling us all a line of BS with all this emisson stuff they are putting on the new Diesels at this point in time. I also think the emissions from all this stuff on the new diesels is worse for the atmosphere than what a diesel does as they have been doing for the past many years. I am all for clean air and all, but I think our Gov't is selling us a bunch of BS on this setup and using us as the trial and error so that we can pickup the tab for a lot of this.

One area of this we pay for is the lost fuel mileage, let alone the oil in the crankcase that now fills with soot so fast and becomes grinding compounds in the oil. My engine oil turns so nasty in less than a few minutes now after an oil change, the oil in my old 95 PSD is always changed way before it ever looked like this oil does in five minutes of run time. This bothers me and even with all these people telling me its not going to hurt anything

Now far as the Ram I have now, I took ownership of her on the 23 of March and to date now I have little over 23K on her. I am having trouble and have trouble with the new EGR valve on this setup, and have this whole system on order for replacement. This has been the only problem other than the poor fuel mileage, which in JMHO is caused by the emissions equipment mandated to be used on this by our Gov't...

That leaves me to joining here in hopes of getting helpful tips from some of you die-hard Dodge guys that are in the know about these cummins...

I have already had the muffler off this truck for quite sometime now and it made little difference just for you guys that might be wondering!!! No fuel mileage gains, no throttle response gained, not much of anything!!! JIMO a waste of time since I did all the delete pipe work myself...

There is so much restriction before you ever get near the muffler and it being of a straight through design, it really does little to the exhaust that ever makes it back this far on the system LOL... So we really need to either get a better system to filter whatever our Gov't thinks that needs to be from the exhaust, or just remove all this stuff our self and let the Gov't play with all this their self till they figure out something better. I just don't see any reason why the level of technology that is on this 6.7 cummins for the poor fuel mileage, other than our Gov't is using all this stuff to keep the fuel mileage where it is!!!

I am not worried about the warranty on this truck so much either. I just want this motor running just as I can only figure it would if??? LOL. My servicing dealer seems to be very good and thinks out of the box... So I have already told him I will pay for the fix or repair of whatever, if I ever do anything that voids the warranty, as I could care less about the warranty anyway. At least this motor(Cummins) is a good working motor, unlike what I have seen on the 6.0 and now the 6.4 Ford diesel. You can do little for that setup other than replace the motor completely for something like the old 7.3 which did work well with mods. to it...

So lets get this Girl with her know how on this fourm and have her tell us how to... Heck I will send her my fair share of $$$ for whatever she tells me I need, long as this works to get all this stuff off my exhaust system???

I am waiting on the new BullyDog PMT system also, that I have been planning to use as the guages as well as the motor ECM enhancements. Seems to me to offer quite a package of monituring equipment...

I also read on a post here about a couple mods I was wondering about, a cp3 mod and a tone ring??? What are these and where can I read about what all this does and the how to???
