Silencer ring on 6.7

I ordered the parts to make my cold air intake on my 6.7 and I was wanting to know if there is anyone out there that has removed their silencer ring yet, If so could you let me know how to remove it.. Thanks in advance for any info.

Warranty on the turbocharger is void if the silencer ring is removed.

Take the air intake hose off the turbo and you'll see the silencer inside the turbo held in by a snap ring, remove the snap ring and the silencer falls out. Be careful not to scratch the inside of the turbo up and pay attention to where the paint marks are so you can put it back if it needs servicing.

For reducing the audible turbine whine by smoothing out the airflow into the turbine inlet.

well talked to my engineer brother and he said the joker looks like its press fit in there... which unfortunately means that it requires some SERIOUS pressure to pull it out and even pressure as well... the usual screwdriver and torque are sufficient... (believe me I know)... I am working on trying to fab a spreader that would work off of some bolts in the middle and some round flange like peices on the sides that will insert and spread as the bolts are turned... i dunno work in progress... we will see...

yea man... the snap ring was for the 5.9L turbos... the 6.7L is def a different one with a press fit silencer ring and not the easily removed snap ring...

and yes... 5.9L were made up till May... so yea there are some 2007 with snap ring for the silencer but for the 6.7L its still a mystery...

My company truck is an oddball then, it has a 6.7L and a snap ring holding the silencer in, maybe it's a between model or something i don't know.
