reset it this way
I just reset mine today. Turn the key on, but don't start. Within 10 seconds of turning the key on slowly depress the gas pedal three times then turn the key off. It reset mine on the first try.

this is why
I would bet that it is because I change my oil every 5000 miles instead of the 7500 that cummins and dodge says that I can go. So every third oil change it is about right on the money.

If your "oil change required' message comes on , let say every 3500 or so miles, is it an indicator of a fuel dilution problem. Is the over full level on the dipstick an indication of a problem .
the oil change message came on in my truck which is an 08 at 3600 miles the oil level was right on went to the dealer and they said it was because the factory put in the wrong mileage in the ecm and the new flash would fix it so it would not come to early.
LOL IS THAT WHAT THEY TOLD YOU? the oil quality is used to determine oil change intervals. the engine oil condition measurement is based on the dielectric properties of the oil. as engine oil breaks down and additives are depleted, the dielectric properties gradually increase. the oil qaulity sensor determines the dielectrec constant number of the oil in a scale from 1 to 6 . SO WHAT IM SAYING HERE IS THE ECM IS TELLING YOU WHEN TO CHANGE YOUR OIL. DEPENDING ON HOW THE TRUCK IS DRIVIN OR THE CONDITION THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN IN.
I believe that on the 6.7L engines with the EGR plugged in and local driving with very little highway driving the service engine soon message will be displayed more often then highway driving alone. Such as oil change is required. I believe this is due to the soot build-up with the exhaust being recycling into the engine with the EGR plugged in. My oil change light would be enable every 3500 miles or so. I am waiting to see what will happen with the EGR un-plugged and how often the message will be displayed.

try using amsoil and filters. my change oil light only comes on between 6000 and 7000 miles now. and the dodge dealer here in fla. recommends amsoil products. i just buy it somewhere else for much less and change it myself.

My "oil change required" message has come on at 7500 miles, 15000 miles, 22500 miles, 30000 miles, and 37500 miles within ~50 miles or so each time. Some of these intervals have been nearly all unloaded highway miles, some have been idling for hours and hours, some have been loaded with 20000lbs. behind the truck. It doesn't matter how I drive or the loads I pull, the message comes on around every 7500 miles. I don't care what anyone says, it's MILEAGE based.
