Regen
Regen
This is probably a stupid question but how do I know if my truck goes into regen mode . I have never seen any indication that it has ever done it . I do not drive in town very much and I have the EGR valve unplugged and its completely stock . I also have 60,000 miles on this 2007 6.7 liter 6sp manual .
Unless you have a monitor like the Edge Insight, you will not know. There are some tell-tale signs, but the computer on the truck only lets you know when you're steps away from limp mode and neading to go to the dealer. Passive regen is the truck doing its thing without notifying you that it is doing it. Active regen is when the overhead tells you it is clogged and you better not doing anything else except take it on a speed run to make sure it regens completely.
If I'm driving in town, at lower speeds, I can smell diesel fuel burning. I can't tell much in the way that the trucks performs. When I shut the truck off during regen there's a sound coming from underneath that's something like a cutting torch that tails off to nothing as the truck shuts off...like a torch would if its wide open and the acetylene valve is gradually turned off.
regen
I put a insight on my truck and then took a road trip, 6000 miles worth. This is what I found
1st regen at 80 miles from house lasted 14 minutes
2nd regen 200 miles later lasted 14 minutes
3rd regen 245 later lasted 14 minutes
all the above was while empty/no load and running 80mph.
Got tired of seeeing the regen flash up on the screen so I shut it off till I picked up my 5er.
Towing the 5er,toy hauler lots of drag, 9300 lbs, and running 65-70 mph
1st reg 215 miles
2nd regen 303 miles
3rd regen 320 miles
These too lasted 14 minutes each.
Whats all this mean ? I say it doesn't ready matter how hard you work your truck its still going to regen.
When it was in regen I could not tell that it was except for the insight, no power gain or loss, no temp increase, and the overhead lair is just not worth looking at as far as mpg.
One thing I do know is that these trucks have the POWER and I love the Engine Brake !

I have a 1 mile drive to work and live in a small town. No freeways around and my overhead regen comes on about once a month. I make a high speed run over a small hill on the hwy and it goes out. It starts out saying, cat is 80% full, then on to 90% and the next step is "see dealer for service" "power is reduced". I still do the quick run and it does clear it. This is the only thing I dislike about the truck!

I'm leasing it and don't / cant do much. I do plan on buying it when the lease is up in 2 years. It's an 07 3500 and right now it only has 21K on it. After I do buy it, I will look into all sorts of mods.
What is the delete pipe? Also would disconnecting the EGR help, and if taken if for service reconnected, can they tell? Anything I can do that will improve mileage ect. and not void the warr. would be nice.

You can put it back if you don't want to keep or for any other reason you may need to rather easily.
