Powertrain controlcmodule module andand exhaustexhaust brake
Hi,
I am new to this forum and I have a question about the PCM and the exhaust brake. I have a 2007 Dodge with the 6.7 Cummings diesel. I recently had to have the PCM replaced and when I got the truck back the exhaust brake did not function. The shop where I had the work done said that was a result of the latest updates to the PCM. That when the truck was hooked to my 5th wheel trailer the brake would function OK. Has anyone heard of this?

That shop has NO CLUE.......first your truck is a 07.5 the 07 has the 5.9 which does NOT have the exhaust brake...they changed mid year and there is a big difference between the two.
Secondly it has a Cummins diesel, Cummings is a cheap Chinese tool company and has nothing to do with your truck.
Thirdly your exhaust brake is the turbo itself, it has variable geometry vanes in it that open and close to act as an exhaust brake. Because of the buildup of soot caused by the emission system it is recommended you run with the ex brake on at all times, this keeps the vanes moving thus not allowing the soot to cake up around them causing the turbo to malfunction.
A 5th wheel or any kind of trailer will have NO affect on the turbo/exhaust brake function in ANY fashion, it is controlled by the trucks computer.
Fourthly...Welcome to DTR! Glad to have you with us
