Perform Service

Im a new diesel owner!

The EVIC is saying perform service. The manual says this happens when "the CCV filter, EGR valve and EGR cooler is due for required maintenance."

Is this something I can fix and reset myself? I'd rather not take it to a the dealership if i dont have to.

(why is steal er ship as one word filtered LOL)

For the same reason that we would frown on someone posting disparaging remarks about the company YOU work for because they try to sell widgets they build for more than they cost to produce.

I also work for a multi-billion dollar corporation that sells services we provide at higher cost than it takes to provide it...... it's called Capitalism, and has kept ME gainfully employed for almost 30 years.

A Dealership is a business .... no more, no less.

Im sorry if I offended any of you with calling them that... Its just that when I go there and they offer me a CCV filter for $142 and some change and I call my local cummins shop and they sell it for $56 I would have to think that cummins is also selling for a profit and not ripping me off or as I would look at it stealing. Maybe its just me.

I have upmost respect for the mechanics and I dont care about labor rates as like you said they provide the employees gainful employment and Im fine with that but $140+ for a filter that the engine manufacturer sells for $50+ is just insane.

I was looking to the same thing, but I'm not sure anybody answered your question...

Wow, this site has really changed! In the old days, I used to get immideate help on whatever question I had.

Could I re-attack this question so I can get my 07.5 6.7L reset?

Thanks,
