For those out of pocket guys. How much are turbos and injectors on these engines. I read that injectors are dealer only...... is that true that only they can replace them? Just had a bunch of work done on the engine under warrenty. Thinking about getting an extended. Thanks for your answers

Well

Lets look at it this way. If Dodge refused to warranty anything on my truck and lets say I had to replace the turbo and injectors. Id go aftermarket. You can change everything yourself. You do have to keep track of injectors as they require being matched to the ecm, but for the aftermarket guys, Id bet that Smarty or H&S could write a program that takes care of that.

If they are not warranting my truck, the dealership sure aint working on it.....

Oh totally agree. The reason I ask is I'm thinking of extending the warrenty. If a turbo is 4k. Injectors are dealer only yada yada. If you have to match a injector to cylinder then how do you install aftermarket injectors?

The bodies are coded to the ECM, you can switch out nozzles.

Bingo

Not sure if a simple flash will work or if you have to get it done via Starscan.

It's a mass production thing. Much cheaper to mass produce and assign a calibration ID at the end than to have matched sets. They've been doing this for 20 years on big diesels.

I'd just hope that they get the calibration right for each one so the computer can compensate. Evidently, they have it figured out well.
