Opinions wanted on new truck

My current truck is a 2007 5.9 3500 SRW quadcab SLT longbox 4x4, 48re, 3.73 gears, jake brake. Looking to get a new truck next year. Here's how I wanted it equipped: Mega or Crew cab dually 4x4 either 6 speed manual or auto. Truck will see lots of heavy pulling. Box length not an issue. Do I get one of the last Mega cabs or wait for the 2010 crewcab? Will I regret leaving the 5.9 for the 6.7?? Honest thoughts please. thanks.

I think that if you go into a 6.7 knowing that you should disable the EGR and get rid of the DPF then you will be very happy with a 6.7. The new auto has been fantastic for me. I'm really sad that I have had to sell my 08 and get back into an older 5.9 truck. I trust the 5.9 but not the 48re.....
The Megacab is great but they really need bigger tires on them to look right. The stock cheesecutters just don't do it........

I second that... Once you uncork the 6.7 its great. There is a giant sleeping under the hood, and the harder you push him the madder he gets... lol. As far as the auto, I am enjoying it, but from time to time I wish I wouldnt have strayed from my handshaker, until I get stuck in traffic that is, my opinion either tranny you go with I dont think youll regret. And like Zilla said just be prepared to do the fixes or live with the aggrevations.

All hail the mega cab!

As far as the new body style, they are growing on me but I find the 3rd gen with the 06-08 grills to be the best looking body style of the Big Rig style goats (my 1st gen still my fav...). To me the truck market in general is straying from rugged looking trucks to more of a soccer mom mentality in looks and creature comforts. Sometimes I just like my truck to be a truck.

i guess i third that!! do your research and you'll love the truck. if box length really isn't an issue, then get the mega cab. you'll love the interior space. lots of heavy pulling calls for the manual tranny in my opinion. but, the auto seems to be getting good reviews too. good luck, post up your new ride when you get it.

How are the 6.7's running without the DPF and other EPA goodies? I've heard from many that they won't run or run only a few hundred miles then quit.

Ive only got about 400 miles on mine since the deletes, but so far so good. Not sure why they would just quit running after doing the deletes, so far mine has ran better than ever.

i've got about 7000 miles with my deletes. truck has not missed a single beat from the day i did them. that compared to being in the shop 3-4 times in the first 9000 miles. runs MUCH stronger (even with the edge on stock), gets FAR better fuel mileage, motor will last WAY longer, and sounds bad a$$ to boot!! not sure what "many" you've been listening to or reading about, but i've yet to see a truck with the deletes do worse than before them.

This is the crazy part about the 6.7 Less pollution-yes, but lousy milage means your burning more fossil fuels that have to be extracted, refined and shipped. I wonder if the milage issue will improve on the 2010's Thanks EPA you even screwed us up here in Canada where you don't belong!!!
