Not to say anything against Fleetguard, I just haven’t used them.
I like K&N’s HP 4003. The K&N has a nut on the bottom (1” socket) so you can change it with the 1” socket and extension. This makes it real easy.
Same filter for 5.9 or 6.7
I don’t think this is what you are asking, but thought it might help.

I use the Napa/Wix 7620XE. The XE version has synthetic media compared to the standard paper media in the regular 7620 oil filter.

Ok thanks. On my 97 I used to always use Fleetguard. I was told by few people to use only Fleetguard.

Wix 51607 for me. Have 350,000 miles on my '01 using that filter, dad's '05 has 145,000 miles on that filter, uncle's '06 has 195,000 miles on that filter, and my '08 has 30,000 miles on that filter. Not a single oil/lubrication related issue on any of these trucks. They've earned my business.

Fleetguard is the best, Wix next and I agree with carl48, No K&N here. Don't use Fram, they are the worst.

I have to take up for K&N, I have had no problems with the K&N oil filter, or there Air filter.
I have cut the oil filter open after 4500 miles, and see no problem with the quality or design of there filter.
As for K&N’s air filter ruining engines, I think that is mostly due to the owners not servicing the filter as directed. If you do not put oil in it, you are going to eat dirt! If you put to much oil, it is not going to work, as it should either.
I work in Aviation Maintenance, and the Challenger filters are manufactured by K&N, which are basically the same as the Auto filter, with different paint, and paperwork.

The 2007 Dodge 5.9L uses the OEM LF3972. It has a cellulose media. The upgrade is LF16035, it has a stratapore media. Fleetguard has a patent on the Stratapore so no one else has it.

I have used the Fleetguard LF16035 and Baldwin BT7349. No issues with either.

Are you supposed to change these filters? I think I remember reading something about 100,000 mile intervals or something like that...
