Oil for 6.7

What type oil for 6.7? Should you let the rings get seated before running synthetic. What brand meets the requirements. Thanks for any input.

you need a (LOW ASH OIL) this is in your owners manual American Petroleum Institute (API) Engine Oil
Identification Symbol
This symbol means that the oil has
been certified by the American Petroleum
Institute (API). The manufacture
only recommends API CJ-4 certified
engine oils.
Oils with a high ash content may produce deposits on
valves that can progress to guttering and valve burning.
A maximum sulfated ash content of 1.00 mass % is
recommended for all oil used in the engine.
The same oil change interval is to be followed for
synthetic oil as for petroleum based oil. Also, synthetic oil
must meet the same performance specifications as petroleum
oil.

Any name brand CJ-4 oil like Mobil Delvac, Delo 400, Valvoline Cummins Blue will work in your engine.

How quickly does your oil get black?
We've run AmsOil in our 02 D-max since the first oil change and even today, with +150k miles on the truck itself and lets say, 7K on the oil, you pull the dipstick and its still goldish in color. Granted it darker than fresh oil but it aint diesel BLACK. My 93 has about 14 months, 15K miles on its current change (I sample it and dont drive much in my small towns) and the oil still isnt BLACK.

My dads 6.7 is either BLACK or some really dark brown color and its had Amsoil CJ-4 in it since first oil change as well.
