The 6.7 Cummins in the cab and chassis models (2007 emissions) don't have the nox filter. Don't think you can take that stuff off, it will cut your power way down and set a hard code. No one to my knowledge has been able to do that yet, I'm sure it would have been posted on the boards if they had. I watch them all and post on most of them and I haven't seen any sign of getting by the emission equiptment yet. If you want to run the dyed diesel, go ahead, have fun, it is your truck, I guess, then pay the piper.

How will it "kill the engine" if you fail the dpf? If you plug the filter, it can affect performance, even stall the engine, but it won't "kill" the engine. Just change the dpf and the engine is fine.

How do you know that 500ppm sulfer fuel will cause increased soot loading and subsequently damage the dpf (I don't think it will)?

Ok, "kill the engine" might not have been the correct term. What you said is correct, just spend a couple of thousand dollars to replace the dpf and your engine will be back to normal, if that is what you want to do, go for it.

The 500 ppm diesel will absolutely increase the soot produced in the system, that is why they are going to the 15 ppm fuel. It won't damage the dpf, just plug it up, again, if you want to replace it at your expense, go for it.

I'm not whining about the product, I'm just telling u my experence. I know people that have 5.9s and they are happier then a pig. If my 5.9 didn't have a weak trq converter I would be happy to. But in no way am I whining about how the product performs.

I have no problem going over to the ford site saying they the ford rides like a lumber wagon, because it does. I was just comparing everything. I did point out the good and bad points about all 3 models.

If u dont agree about my good bad points tell me where I'm wrong.

Interior: 1.ford 2.chev 3.dodge
Engine: 1.chev 2.dodge 3.ford
Tranny 1.chev 2.ford 3.dodge
Front end 1.ford 2.dodge 3. chev
Ride 1.Chev 2.dodge 3.ford
Looks 1.dodge 2.ford 3.chev
Driving manners 1.dodge 2.chev 3.ford

So if u count them all up, it all comes down to personal preference. Every truck has it high and low point.
all that comparision stuff is opinoun.the only thing that is a fact is the cummins is the best diesel on the market bar none..

Bringing this back to the top.

I drove a 6.7/Auto and a Duramax LMM/Auto today. I sure am not buying a 6.7 Willingly. The new GMC's i think look good. not a fan of the chevy front end with all the chrome.

The jake brake and manual shift is nice, but the tranny has no idea what its doing! It shifts like mad in the city and gets you at ridiculously low RPM's. You have to downshift to move. i like staying in one gear just giving it a little throttle. have to give it a bunch of throttle so it downshifts, then it will go.

Also seemed slow until it hit 2000RPM, then you better hold on.

Pricing the GMC i drove now.

On the ford the power is smooth and shifts arent as harsh. Chev is same as the ford power wise. Thats what I have found out so far.
That new 6.4 is one hell of a motor
Good luck.

I think it's funny over on another forum a 6.4 owner posted his displeasure with rumors of bad mileage from the 6.4...8 mpg was his number he claimed everyone said it was getting. Then in the very same post, he turned around said "the new Cummins is nice, if you like 8mpg it's getting." I mean come on, get real. I've seen on all kinds of forums the same raves and complaints....i'm getting 8mpg....but he's getting 16....yada yada.....

So far, I love everything about my new 6.7 with the exception of the fuel mileage. It's far better than 8 mpg (approx. 16 mpg on hwy at 65mph - no load and 10 - 12 mpg pulling my 7,000 lb travel trailer), but not quite as good as my '03 5.9. I accept that the 35 inch tires on my new truck are definitely going to hurt mileage a bit, but hopefully it improves a little as the engine breaks in. I've ordered an S&B intake system for it and I'm looking into a programmer/chip/downloader but not much out there yet. Plus side, the power is very good and the exhaust brake and tow/haul mode are awesome. Steep hills with travel trailer on tow and I don't even have to touch the brakes. Overall, a great truck so far.

The truck is still the same as before. I think my 5.9 pulls hard with 35" imo but I will take both truck across the scales when I have time to see the weight diff. I know the new one will be abit heavier because of the deck it has on it. Most people have driven the cab with box trucks, I'm talkin about the cab and chassis which has a different tranny in it I was told.

FYI: Farm vehicles are aloud to use died fuel.

Also I'm still driving my 5.9 and I may keep it and build it up. When I looking at the cost at getting something new it wasn't really worth it. All the new trucks aren't really that special and plus I dont wanna drive a stock truck around till a chip/programmer comes out so I may wait awhile.
