The MegaCab is no longer an option for the MY2009 1500's... I repeat, the 1500's. The Mega is being replaced, in the 1500's by a new Crew Cab(no long bed)... again I stress this only effects the 1500's.

There is no confirmation on what to expect for the MY2010 2500+ trucks...

I would imagine it will be the same as the 2002-2003 models, 1500 will change & the next year the 2500-3500 will. using this logic, should have one more year of 2500-3500 Megas

The Mega cab name is going away. Not the cab itself. They will now be called Crew Cabs from what my dealer tells me.

Thanks for all the info guys.

My guess is that the heavy duty Crew Cab models offer both a short and long bed.

Actually, one of the lead designers has said that the 2500+ trucks will be different than the MY2009 1500's...

how much different is yet to be divulged but they can pretty much do what they want because I believe the frames are going to have to be substantially different with the coil-over multi-link rear end they have going in the 1500's.

A few years ago I was in a Detroit airport bar waiting for a plane and started talking to a guy who happened to be in the Dodge Ram design group ( the Motor City and all... ).

He told me ( before the Megacabs were out at that time... ) that the Megacabs ( were indeed coming out in one year from that time... ) would be around until 2009, which I guess turned out to be true.

He also said after that ( starting in 2009 ) , they'd be a redesign to some degree, and they were working on that redesign at that time ( ~2004 )..

I remembered this after I posted my last response today.

So I still think the Heavy Duty's will have CC's and a long bed to boot.

Here's the link to my original post:

We'll see.

Too bad these new trucks won't have the 5.9 in them.

Have a good one,

DT.
