newbie question

how do i know if my 08 2500 SLT is 2nd or 3rd generation and whats the difference?

1st Generation = 89 to 93 "Square Nose"

2nd Generation = 94 to 02 1st of the "Big Rig" style

3rd Generation = 03 to 09 That is what you have

4th Generation = 10 and up

Now there is some differences in the generations themselves too.

98 Went to a new interiour style on the 2nd gens. Early 98 had the new interior style and the 12v Cummins. These are highly sought after. 98.5 refers to the switch to the 24v Cummins

06 in the 3rd gens marked a switch to a different front clip (redesigned grill, headlights etc) and a new interior, among other things.
