What is the general consensus on the new transmission with E-brake ? As compared to the 48RE ?

 

A quantum leap!!!

 

From one who has put a few miles on both tranny's - Ditto!!

 

I love the new combo........people are comparing it to the Allison.......pretty high praise , I guess.

Had both. Won't go back (unless they mate it to the 5.9L).

 

Its the only auto I have ever realy liked except my Allison 545 I had in my 1st gen. I realy like how it shifts and pulls. The exhaust brake works great. I test drove a 06 5.9 with an auto and its not even close to as nice as this. I can down shift with the Ebrake and almost come to a stop and never tap the brakes and it will set you up in the seat it brakes so hard even with my gooseneck. You should go test drive one and hold the - (down shift) button and turn on the brake. I have always prefered a manual but this one will out pull my brother in laws 07 5.9 with a 6spd and Edge EZ (65hp).
