New girl to the cummins trucks codes P0871 P0700

Now im new to dodge cummins but not to the diesel trucks coming from 4 ford powerstrokes to this truck. Little history brought truck 1 month ago i had them do a whole new steering box swap bars everything up front. 3 weeks ago truck threw these codes. now hauling home from rodeo last night it threw these again Truck threw same code again has 3 week old overdrive sensor drove about 800 miles since put in and threw a code on way home was able to use the insight to get it off limp mode question is why can I drive it in manual and does fine but it won't shift pass 4 in auto.
Do you think its the valve body and if so which brands are the best

Heres a link to a DTC list that you can print for future reference.

Looks like your codes are definitely tranny related, but you already knew that. lol I can't help with any more specifics, because I drive a stick, but I am sure that others will chime in. Welcome to the forum!!

Welcome to the forum... Jess, Most likely the TRS assembly but I would have checked out by a transmission tech. first to be sure. Diagnostic tests will need to be done to confirm switch positions.

If you DO need tranny work done, STandard Transmission is VERY familiar with the AT on these trucks. They are a reputable company that have been rebuilding Dodge trannys for a LONG time. They also sell parts and have very good customer service.

The valve body which controls the flow of fluid pressure to the clutches. Electric solenoids switches and valves. If you notice no slippage in any gear most likely the clutches and seals are ok

Revmax has a good handle on the 68RFE. They make valve bodies and complete transmissions at good prices.

update the dodge dealer said there is nothing wrong with it. told me to take it home and hook up to trailer. so i did and guess what did it again but it isnt throwing the limp mode this time. and rpms are acting werid so i gave up and took it to a tranny shop and so they are going to tear into the bottom half tommarrow valve bodys etc

So what happened

My 2008 ram 2500 6.7 68rfe has been doing the same stuff
So what ended up fixing the problem?

My 2008 factory service manual doesn't list DTC P0700 but it lists the P0871 DTC as over drive pressure switch rationality. All of the troubleshooting has to do with this pressure switch, not with the valve body. I'm sure the valve bodies are really spendy. If you replace it without figuring out what your problem is, you're probably just throwing away a lot of money. I've towed my 8,000 lb.+ trailer all over Montana, Utah, California, Oregon, Wa, and many points in between without any problems with my 68RFE. I do use an after market AFE high capacity transmission pan. If you give it a chance, you'll probably find it to be a worthwhile and quite serviceable transmission.
