From reading the Ford and D-max forums it seems that they are not having the clogged dpf's or the reduced hp after removing the dpf. Not sure how but a D-max friend of mine mentioned that the tuner software for the Chevy's is more sophisticated and is able to ignore the sensors. Something to do with a program called something "live".

Yep, it's RBP. They are plugging all the sensors right back into the exhaust stream. I wonder what would happen if the computer decided to dump some diesel into the exhaust and it was straitpiped. That might be pretty cool if it would ignite, put a switch on it. Instead of smoking people out, you could barbecue them! jk

 

If the sensors doesn't see a pressure differential in the DPF I don't think it will regen.

Instument guy at work got rid of his DPF on his 6.7.....he measured the clean DPF and there was 3psi drop!!!!!, so he wired in a resister simulating the 3psi drop, so he always has a clean dpf!!!

3psig is a heckova pressure drop! DPFs are evil considering EGTs, they'd have to be.

 

Measuring the kind of flow these engines put out is not a trivial task. How was the 3 psi drop measured? That seems way too high. If all you need is a 10 cent resistor to simulate the voltage difference that is awesome. According to what I have read there are 3 oxygen sensors and 3 egt sensors in the system. Seems there is a lot going on beyond the pressure sensors.

 

So what's the value of the resistor?

 

The 3 psi drop was measured by connecting too the pressure lines with a fluke, not sure what he added or took away in order too maintain this reading. BUt the actual 3 psi drop was taken @ 60mph on flat highway.

there was a total of 5 PSIG drop accross the whole system, 3 being in the DPF the remaining 2 accross 2 catalysts and a muffler.

I will talk to him at work and find out exactly what went into this and see if he will hook me up with a drawing.
