Ford has barbeque exhaust as standard equipment. No switch necessary.

I’ve been wondering this for a while, so let me know if it’s just a stupid question

Why couldn’t you just strait pipe the DPF? Wouldn’t the computer then read it as always clean and just never regen? You might need to add a resister like Ramtd02 is talking about, but it seems like the simplest way to eliminate the DPF is to take it out and then convince the computer that it was still there but always clean. Heck no one would even be able to tell it wasn’t there unless they physically looked, and even then you could probably hollow out the DPF and insert a strait pipe into it so it would look stock.

I will talk to him at work and find out exactly what went into this and see if he will hook me up with a drawing.
I know this is a pretty old thread, but the most relevant I have found on this forum. I have removed my dpf, but left all the sensors in. I think that all I need is the correct resistors for the differential pressure sensor. I have tried leaving it plugged in, but get a CEL. I have also tried the 110/390 combination recommended on another forum, but get a 80% Full message on the overhead.

Looking for the correct resistor value(s).

Thanks

Honestly, the best thing to get is a smarty jr programmer and not have to fiddle with resistors. I did this 2 years ago and not 1 issue, no CEL and no problems. Its a 3 minute reprogram and you are done.

Thanks, but that isn't what I asked.

There were resistor packs that were available years ago when this first came out that plugged into the sensor spots. But I don't recall the actual values.

Getting rid of the DPF is fine, but the real soot collector is the EGR system and you need a programmer to disable that without a CEL on all the time. Feeding the engine soot all the time is why I went the programmer route.

Just properly delete the thing, add a good programmer and be done with it. Then you can have a good free breathing intake/exhaust with no worries.

I realize this is hard for some to grasp, but I have no real concerns with the catalytic converter. In fact I really do not like the smell of unburned diesel fuel. I also have no issues with EGR or the NOx absorber as long as they don't cripple the engine. I do have a problem with an exhaust filter that plugs up with no warning and leaves me (my son actually) stuck in the middle of nowhere with a dead truck. I don't really feel like laying out $600 to $1000 for the sole purpose of cancelling the DTCs that come from too low a pressure drop across the filter when I am pretty sure that a couple of resistors will do the trick.
