New 6.7, would you buy again?

I know it's probably too early to ask this question, but considering the problems they have been having, would you do it again? I am considering buying one because I like the new 6 speed automatic and the horsepower numbers of the new 6.7, and having a new truck is always nice, too

I've had mines for 5 months and over 5K miles and haven't had a problem. I'm happy with the performance of the truck, and looking forward to the mods when they become available.

I have 7k on my new 6.7 and have had no trouble at all with it. I pull a 10k lb 5er with quads behind that and it's just a pleasure to drive. Sounds like some are having trouble with Regeneration. I have had no signs of one, probably because i only use the truck pull the 5er. This new 6.7 pulls strong! and it is quiet! I'm hoping for a little better mileage down the road but I am very happy with my choice.

I'm happy with mine, I pull a 7 ton dump with it and when it's not working it's pulling an enclosed with the quads.

Sounds like when towing it's doing allright. 90% of mine will be around town with my wife driving it.

Go test drive a 6.7 and read that little black card around the cig lighter. Read the owners manual also. If you can live w/ the possibility the having to drive around your new emissions system, then go for it. If you are going to keep the truck 100% stock you should be fine. I have spent alot of hours behind some 6.7s now, and I just can't get over what the epa has caused Cummins to do.

I drove the 6.7's and was very impressed with how quiet and refined the drivetrain was. That truck is SMOOTH! The 6speed auto and exhaust brake are also fantastic. That being said, I opted for one of the remaining 2007 5.9's that were still on the lot. I just don't trust the emissions yet and I too do a lot of city driving. I have a friend who drives big-rigs and he too advised against the emissions laden engines. I know this mess is here to stay, but I will wait till 2010 to look at them again. Meanwhile, LOVE my 07 5.9

Sure would !

My 2003 RAM 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 CTD w/305-555 and NV5600 was a great truck; it only had 50.9k miles when I sold it.

The MegaCab is nice , along with the 68RFE and exhaust brake. I only have 1,203 miles, but no problems so far.

You'd really enjoy the ride & brake improvements going from a 2nd GEN to a 3rd GEN, cstmfabman.

I have a cab and chassis with the 6.7, not the pickup, but I would do it again with no second thoughts. I was having some second thoughts a few weeks ago but my problems were not the emissions but, 1, a dealer that screwed it up then I had emission problems, and 2, a intermittent problem with an electronic throttle valve that wouldn't fail enough to set a code. Once that happened and the valve was replaced, everything is going like it is supposed to. I'm over 53,000 miles now and other than the one round of problems I had, it has been flawless. Again, mine is a cab and chassis with 305 hp and 2007 emissions, not the pickup with 350 hp and 2010 emissions.

I had a 2003 HO with an Edge on it and the 6.7 is comparable if the Edge is on the lower settings, which is where I ran it. I would like to see a chipped 5.9 with the Aisin transmission behind it, that would be a trailer pulling truck.

Your lucky! I've been seaching for an 07 Mega Laramie for about 3 months now, I guess I'm going to have to be less picky. Isn't "smooth" something you DON'T want in an auto tranny behind a Cummins? I felt like the 6 spd auto was shifting all over the place every time I changed the throttle position. In my 4 spd auto, at 60+ mph you hit the throttle and your gone, no downshifting. I'd take a built 48re any day over a 6 spd slushbucket.

I too have no regrets. Coming from two Duramax's, one a buy back for overheating, I love this truck. Towing with an exhaust brake gives me the confidence to take my 12k 5th wheel anywhere. The brakes are better, the truck is just more heavy duty, not to mention the size of the cab. Almost 4,000 miles and no issues.

Sounds like good news, so far. It's always scary when you have 1st year engine and trans.

Talking Happy so far

My truck has 4000 miles and I havent experienced any problems. The new engine is very quiet and the automatic tranmission is very smooth which I believe is a good thing. It is geared low even with 3:7:3s so it goes through the gears when you first start up in town but quickly ends up and stays in the higher gears which is appropriate. Fuel economy on the highway is impressive for a big truck between 18 and 19mpg consistently hand calculated. My in town, stop and go mileage varies between 13 and 14 which I hope will improve over time. Overall, it is a truck with a nice ride and if it holds up well over the long run it should be a good choice.
