I'd take a built 48re any day over a 6 spd slushbucket.
I too had the same problem locating a Laramie. Simply, the dealers had every excuse. My take is that they did not want to have top end/ the most expensive trucks on the lot.
It took several trips to local dealers that would accept ordering a truck that I wanted..... They wanted to sell trucks that they had. They couldn't get it through there heads that I was spending my money to purchase a truck for me!

I placed the order for my 6.7 Mega Cab Laramie,White, 6sp Auto, sun roof, 3.73's, block heater, 6 cd/mp3 player, floor mats, posi, Side air bags, on Mar 27th.
She showed up on Jun 9th to my dealer in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The three months that you have been looking, you could have ordered and taken delivery by now....

I have a whole 550 miles on the beast, I love it. The torques is awesome.
If conditions are perfect(Clean DPF), my beast 50 mile trip was 19.1mpg average(It hit 22 going!, averaged 19.1 on the way back)
The times that I think its regen'ing is when the mileage drops to ~ 15-16mpg.

The last truck I had was a 2004 Chevy Crew cab with a 6.0 gasser... The best mileage it got was 14.5.(It only had a 26 gallon tank )
These mpg numbers are all empty.

Towing the snowmobile trailer it dropped to 9-10mpg(at 75mph), during white outs towing the trailer @ 15-25mph I got 12.5 mpg! Speed kills mpg, thats for sure!

I'm hoping that I get at least 12-14 towing my 2 place snowmobile trailer(600 pounds+2 sleds that weigh ~ 600 each = > 2000 with gear? ~ 5months from now I should know!

I understand, good luck! My problem is after driving MANY 6.7s, I will not own one, therefore I have been searching for an early 07 Laramie Mega 5.9 w/ 48re. I can't leave a truck alone and I think modding a 6.7L will be very tricky and limited. Time will tell, hopefully the aftermarket can offer as much some day for the 6.7 owners or they will be way behind the 5.9 crowd as far as options and hp/tq.

Good luck with your search. There are still a few 5.9's out there but Laramie packages are scarce. I settled for the Thunder Road package. Love it so far!

I bought a 07 one ton dully, with the 6.7, 6 speed stick, quad cab. I tow every day cross country. Have had the truck about 7 weeks, have over 15500 miles on it. It has great pulling power.BUT it also has emishon problems. It is in the shop now for the third time, for the same problem. When the check eng light comes on my milage drops to 5 or 6 miles to a gallon. This time it has been in the shop since 7/3/07 it is now 7/6/07 and they have been replacing parts and reflashing it. They thought they had it fixed yesterday, till they test drove it and the check eng light came back on. Now they say they had to order some fuel sencing parts and they won't be in til monday or later. Also doing research with diff. dealer in Elkhart In. they tell me there is a problem with the cat. con. on these trucks, and that there are over 500 on back order. It is costing me a lot of money for extra fuel, and down time

I am looking in to trade my 6.7 in for a 5.9 again. The fuel mileage is killing me this thing suck. I have been getting around 12-14 mpg driving with the crusie set at 65 mph. When my 5.9 dually got 18-19 driving 70-75 mph. In the city my 6.7 gets 9-10 mpg so I need to get rid of this truck. So what do yall think. They said I could trade and keep the same payment on the 5.9 with same option

Can't believe you are willing to give up that sweet 6spd auto!! I'm sure they will get the EGR crap figured out and then your fuel mileage will get better. I'm in the same boat as far as the fuel mileage but I'm believing that the problems I'm having will clear up the poor fuel mileage.

The dealer I bought my Laramie from had a 07 5.9L megacab dualie laramie in silver last week.

Back on topic I love my new 6.7 68re combo. I gotta admit I'm getting lazy I just couldn't deal with the 6spd in my 02 anymore and the quiet and softer ride over myold one ton dually is just fantastic. And the integrated exhaust brake makes trailering even better too! And even though my old truck dyno'd @ 400/800 I don't miss the power (well, that much anyway) of the old with the auto in the new. All in all, really good truck, really happy.

So I guess it's not every 6.7 that has the fuel milage problem since 2 people posted about pretty decent milage??

When my 6.7L wasn't having EGR problems the mileage WAS getting better, though not as good as the 04.5. Around 27k miles I started to see an increase of about 1.0 m.p.g. I expected the mileage to suck until it loosened up a bit. Then it started to have EGR problems and the mileage dropped back down. So, I am hoping after Monday, when they use the EGR kit and do the cleaning on it things will get back on track and the fuel mileage will increase.

My fuel mileage is nearly the same as it was with my 03 truck which averaged 11.3 mpg combined towing and running empty. According to my log book, 92% of my mileage was towing and towing heavy so I'm not complaining about my mileage. On this truck, the mileage is running a little over 10 mpg combined so it is a little less, but still not bad when you consider what it is that I do. Also, this truck weighs 1500 lbs more, has around 50 more cubic inches, is running 4.10 gears and is an automatic vs 3.73 gears, a six speed stick, smaller engine, and weighs a lot less on the 03. I haven't had any emission problems except when one dealer screwed things up on it. Another dealer fixed it and found the original problem after it completely failed and set a code. If these trucks don't set a code, it is just guess work finding the problem. I had the throttle control valve replaced and that took care of everything. I have also had a module replaced in the transmission, a code was set, although I never knew I had a problem. I still wonder about that one.

This is on a cab and chassis, not a pickup. There is a big difference. Different engine setup, different emissions, different frame and a different auto transmission.

To sum it up, I would buy another 6.7.
