Need a little advise please.

OK gang, I am going to buy a 07 6.7 truck today or tomorrow and am looking for ideas to fully realize the potential if this thing. I know I need to do the DPF delete and the EGR and TV deletes along with a programmer. I am looking real hard at the smarty jr. as I don't really want to get real crazy with the thing. Before I get started I checked the thing out and it is due for the J35 recall, should that be done before I do the other stuff?? And is there anything else I am forgetting? I don't really want to crank the thing up, just want to let the poor thing breathe properly

Just make sure that there is no check engine light on. If so, make sure for what. If its emissions related, have the dealer fix it if still under warranty.

Engine wise, check make sure the exhaust brake functions, make sure the tranny shifts nice and smooth, and when in tow/haul mode downs shifts when decelerating. When tow/haul with the EB on it should downshift rather firm to keep the engine RPM's up and the EB operating.

Take a look at this thread on deleting, and look for the tattle tale signs of a previous deleted truck.

If it does not seem to be deleted, the above performs properly, just check it out as you would any other vehicle.

If it passes your inspection, congrats on the new truck!

You got it right, and I would make sure that stock wise there are no issues. Go ahead and get the J35 recall and have them go through the emmisions components for you and then delete it for future use if needed. This is the best path and you will be very happy.

Aww heck man, I aint nothing special. Just happened to have dealt with a lot of these issues and try to pass the info along.

I must say though, we do have quite a knowledge base here at DTR, and our 6.7 crowd aint too shabby either. You wont find any more helpful and good people anywhere else.

You won't regret going to the 6.7 once some emissions "adjustments" are made. When the 6.7 can breath its a whole new animal. Running empty, mileage can be VERY good if driven in a decent manner. Towing mileage (even with the deletes), on the other hand is somewhat lacking (I get 10.1 to 12.4 @ 62 mph), but there is no shortage of power or torque and the 6 speed with engine brake is amazing.

Have fun with your new truck!!!!
