Up here in Canada, they seem to be treating this as a TSB. My dealer has had access to the J35 software since its release date, but I have no notice. My truck is going in on Friday to have it done.

On the recall notice there is a item that states the vehicle has been checked and is OK. I marked that box and sent back to Dodge. They did not ask for a dealer stamp or anything like that. So since the Smarty is operating the ECM, the truck is OK and this is what I marked.

I'd like to know how they would tie all this together and not let anyone register being that I still have not seen any notice to have it smogged or inspected.

Took mine in yesterday, and haven't noticed any change in performance. I do a fair amount of short-trip driving, so I keep my EB on, and have found that if I keep the tranny in 4th gear for the short hauls I can keep the rpms up to hopefully allow for regens.

New flash available

Asked MADDS about the SMARTY S-67 and the J35 recall:

Hello,
yes, the latest update file for Smarty, published a few days ago, is compatible also to updated trucks.

Stefano Negrini - MADS

Guess I will try it.

Working on these things daily I've found with most of the trucks I've kept updated with the latest software have had less issues pertaining to soot. If I owned one I would probably run the number monthly just to see if anything new has come up.

....the more I work on common rail trucks, the more I appreciate my comfortable seats, cold a/c, and VP-44 pump.

Over 600 miles with the J35 now, towing and empty. No real difference as far as I can tell, the truck runs great. My mileage may be lower

I had the J35 installed last Monday along with an oil change and third member
seals. I just drove the truck 1600 miles empty. Ditto, coollbreezy, on the
mileage being lower. We did run into some severe winds on I-40 this week.
Some sections were closed for a while.
I am concerned about the seals on this truck since I've also had to replace
seals in/on the transmission. Was this a bad year for Dodge seals???

Hmmmm.... took mine in to the dealer for its for service and they did the J35 recall also; haven't noticed any difference, but this mpg thing has my interest peaked. ....guess I'll have to watch it closely since I just filled 'er up.

they created the flash due to the last update being corrupted and causing check engine lights. they did not know all who got the corrupt flash so they released j35 as a recall. we have been doing a crap load of them at the dealership
