Before I put my deletes on I was able to powerbrake my truck and lay a nice long patch of rubber. I only did this once so I cannot remember exactly how high my rpms got before I let off the brake and just let the truck loose. I had a Rokktech crank sensor on the truck at the time and it definitely felt like it gave me more bottom end power.
Now, once we all started talking about unplugging the EGR I just had to try it. I unplugged it and my truck ran great and I had no issues for about a week. After that week my delete kits showed up and I installed them. I immediately noticed that my truck did not seem to have that same power off the line. I tried adjusting the Rokktech but the power never truly came back although it definitely felt better with it advanced all the way.
Today I went out and tried to powerbrake the truck and the RPMs will only go to around 1800 and the truck starts missing and it will not go any higher. I pulled the Rokktech sensor off and reinstalled the stock one with no change. I'm starting to think this has something to do with doing the EGR blockoffs and I'm thinking about pulling the plates and just running with the EGR simply unplugged. The truck ran great that way!!
Finally, what I need is for someone with an auto truck but with no power adders to try and powerbrake their truck for me and let me know how your truck reacts. (How high do the rpms go before the tires start spinning? Will it break the tires loose without letting off the brake? etc...) I'd really like for someone without the EGR deletes to do it and also someone with the EGR delete to do the same so I can compare and see if it's just my truck or if it's a common issue.
I can also feel that the top end power is down too. It takes forever for the rpms to build up if I hammer the throttle. Once it hits 2500rpm then it climbs very very slowly from there.....
The truck runs just fine under normal conditions. I even pulled my trailer around sitting at around 11-12000lb and the truck did fine...
I have the constant CEL for the EGR being unplugged but when I checked for codes today it just said "DONE"

Power Brake for you.
I tried and succeeded in power braking my truck. It broke the tires loose around 1600 - 1700 rpms and layed a strip of black down that would make the race car drivers blush. After it got spinning I let off the brakes and let er eat real good. I layed about 40 feet of black before she finally got traction and took off. I don't know what gear I was in but she bit hard and jumped up. I don't know if this helps you, but it definately made me feel better today.

Thank you. I am bone stock with the EGR plugged in. My mileage is unusually high for what some of the others post here, but that is because I run the speed the limits while towing...
If you have any questions just ask.

I will be the first to say " I am scared!" I did this twice with my 08 and the second time was not that cool after it was towed home. It turns out it by doing this it shatter my underclutches in the tranny and took 1st-4th with it. So maybe it was a one off thing, but i will not attemp again. Good Luck

I read these all the time and have to ask the obvious. When was the last fuel and air filter change. Have you purchased fuel in a different location from where you usually do? I don't know, maybe I'm just getting old but I like to start simple. Maybe because it's usually cheaper.

For the record I don't do this often. This is only the third time I have tried it. Once when I first put the Rokktech on, once after doing the deletes, and then today. For me, I just feel that my loss of power came exactly when I did the deletes. With just the EGR unplugged it did just fine though. It is quite possible that this is yet another "Quirk" that some trucks have after doing the deletes. Most guys feel a power gain after doing the deletes and mine did just the opposite. It still move alright just not quite as quick as it was before...
Mikmaze, that may be part of it but the engine miss I get just doesn't seem right...

I pulled the butterfly out of the intake already. Without that gone there was less power AND mileage was way down. I'm not sure if that's the butterfly you are referring to. I have not read about anyone pulling the actual EGR butterfly out.....
Thanks
Thanks
Initially reading your post I would of thought it was your rokktech doing that. My past experiences ( with my 03 ) with the rokktech showed a similar effect but not as drastic as your experiencing. But I really would change your fuel filter just to be sure. I would have to bet this issue was some of the reason you went through fuel filter expedition about a month ago. It really does sound like your starving for fuel. If no change, then I would take the time and put the egr all back together, plug it in, just to see if that would make a difference. At least youll be able to cancel these things out and be able to start from scratch.
I did hot have any issues when I did the fuel filter. I just figured it was time to change it at 13000 miles. I may put the EGR all back together but strangely enough this morning the truck seems to be a bit more powerful on the low end. I still have the stock crank sensor on the truck and it may be my imagination about the power too. I did not try to powerbrake it again this morning.....
Since I noticed the power difference immediately after blocking the EGR I'm pretty sure that is where my issue lies. I had to butcher up one of the shafts that holds the butterfly plate in place so I am dreading trying to put it back in. The other shaft is fine though so once I find some small enough nuts and bolts I will probably try doing that......

I guess everyone is scared......

You guys aren't scared.
Now someone go try this for me. Please.......
