How many people have had to have the whole DPF replaced?

(Messed up the title, don’t know how to fix it)

Long story short.... Took my truck into the shop today (fifth time in 8-9 weeks, 6200miles) I was told that it would be another flash.... OK, I have done a few of these 'trips' before... I was thinking 30 Minutes..... Three hours later they are telling me they are in a meeting with Dodge over the phone and the "issue" is something they have not seen before...... OK, I take off and get back to work !!!!.. They call me about five hours later and they tell me a whole new exhaust should fix this issue........... What the heck?

Will a new DPF make any difference in anything? I don't think it should have taken them 8-9 hours to find out they are going to try and new exhaust..... My over head said "system OK" ?

Ive been reading all the post out there guys! Thanks for all the info.... Anyone had 'my' issue yet? Thanks !

NOPE... I’m stock as stock can be ! ! I have more air pressure than stock! LOL With the whole truck stock it’s been in the shop five times and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

Mine's going in for a new DPF on Friday. It clogged about a month ago, got the Catalyst Full message, then got the reflash, then it was blowing lots of black smoke so I took it back in and now I'm getting a new DPF since they think the old one failed. The dealer said it was about $5k to replace the DPF. We just need someone to come up with a full replacement exhaust about the time our warranties run out.

most times if you make it to "Catalyst Stat 100%" your truck will barely run, and they will replace both the Cat and DPF when you take it in. This is what the shop i work at has been doing.. Also, if you truck smokes it may not be anything bad,.. just a cracked DPF. Mine smokes, because of a cracked DPF. But i'm not fixing it until the truck doesnt run or derates the engine because of throwing a code or something.. But no problems so far, so hell.. leave it cracked.. i like the smoke !

Buddy of mine took his in for a new turbo and he said it ran fine.He has about 18k on it and a cel.Picked it up,went about 10 miles and it died in the road.Towed back in and told needed a DPF.Picked it up with the new DPF and he says runs great but fuel mileage went down the pooper and smokes real bad.Smoked bad enough to coat his trailer on a trip from Georgia to Kentucky and back etc.He hasn't taken it back in yet.

I talked to my service mgr. last month when I bought my truck and he said the dpf costs 1000 dollars for the part.

He also said that turbos and dpf's are back ordered.

He said that Dodge was noticing that dpf were actually not bad but the sensors going into the exhaust were bad causing the regen process not to do its job.

I have called my local Dodge dealer three times for ghost codes (MIL light) coming on to see if they would scan it since the odometer key trick is not picking anything up. They said it would be three weeks before they could get to it.

I called today to get an oil change and they can not do it either due to know oil change guy.

I think the VIP card I received was either not for me or it may have expired the day I drove off the lot.

After there is a computer out that will -negate- the computer issues with the DPF and the EGR I'm probably going to build a full custom turbo back 5" Stainless straight pipe. Then I'm probably going to get an AmsOil dry air filter and build a Stainless 5/6" cone intake and wrap it with heat reflective NASA space crap.... Then I'm going to build a total crazy over the top "over built" heat shield from the Exhaust manifold and around the remainder of the EGR and a "WALL" from top to bottom and away from the intake..... Then I should move onto my other mods.....
