DPF Problems - are they gone?
DPF Problems - are they gone?
Haven' theard from anyone regarding new DPF problems - have the flashes fixed the problem? All the problems I had with one of my company C&C's ended up being driver related! -wrong fuel, oil, using additives and not changing the fuel filter
I've had no DPF problems in 5800 miles. I did get a new turbo. The truck has had both AT and AU flashes.
Are the problems fixed? I don't think anyone can tell you. Only time will tell. Personally, I have no regrets about buying my 6.7L.

I have 15000 miles on mine. Never had a dpf prob. Looks going to get third egr cooler valve replaced cel came on again at about 11:30 last night. Code p245a. So they are going to install new one and cut hole in my soundproofing where it is hitting.
just over 12000 on mine and i've only had the flashes done.. No problems what so ever.. I know i have a cracked DPF tho... but its not bad enuff to throw codes yet.. So i'll leave it cracked.. i like being able to see smoke

I had the truck flashed once at about 9,000 miles (can't remember the code) but it was not a problem with the DPF. I have 15,000 miles on the truck now. Almost all of those mile have been at highway speeds though.
a little over 22,000miles on mine with no flashes, no trips to the dealer, just regular oil & filter changes, & lots of loaded miles, so far no CEL's or any DPF problems, only complaint is a slight hesitation type feeling with the cruise set & going downhill, smooth as silk if the motor is under acceleration, but take away the load & it can't seem to smooth out, like the throttle is engaging & then dis-engaging very slightly????? but nothing the Smarty won't fix I hope!!
so far so good! love the 6.7L engine! Dusty

I have had a Cummins Data logger in my truck for the last three weeks. I spoke with the engineer today and it appears that the new AU firmware has made a major improvement with the emission problems. I have had P1451and P2463 multiple times and P245A once with the data logger. The engineer assured me that there was nothing wrong with my truck. The error codes were being thrown due to different driving conditions.
We have all heard that it is recommended to drive on the highway for 45 minutes -- this is only one of many ways for the truck to "de-soot" -- and the preferred method for guaranting the process completes. In my case I coast down a long grade every day during my commute, I would get 70% full messages daily and about every fifth day a CEL. The error codes were being thrown due to it not being able to complete the de-soot process not because anything was clogged. The new firmware seems to have corrected this problem, I no longer get the 70% full messages and of course no CEL's.
The engineer would tell me to much about the new algorythm in the firmware but I am guessing that they are performing the desoot process more often for shorter periods of time and monitoring the the amount of fuel being consumed not just RPM's.
