Is the tailpipe still clean on the inside after that many miles or does it eventually turn black?

Only 1000 miles on mine , but absolutely flawless so far. Very quiet and pulls 11k lbs. effortlessly. Mileage around town 15.5 , hand calculated on second tank. Hope it will do better as it breaks in , old one got 17.5 in town. Exhaust brake a very nice addition and the trans is very nice with the manual override. Good luck with the wife.

It is still clean, no soot at all. It would pass the white glove test. You folks can keep worrying about the new engine and transmission, by the time you decide it's ok to get one I'll have 150 to 200k on mine.

2,500 miles on mine, no problems or issues. Mileage is not as good as my old ' 05 Duramax, but this truck is way better! 14 city, 17 highway too, towing about 9.5.

I've had 5 Dodge trucks now (1983 D50, 1986 Ramcharger, 1998 1500, 2002 1500, and now a 2006 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel 4x4) and have never had a major problem with any of them I went away one time for a new truck, a Toyota Tundra 4x4 and guess frickin' what!? I broke the transfer case on the FIRST off road excursion. The first one! Now to be fair Toyota did fix it with no questions asked, and even gave me a rental car while it was being repaired.

Na, I'm sticking with Dodge. 1000's of off road miles and 100's of thousands on hiway miles with out any issue other than normal wear and tear is good enough for me. I like the look, the drivetrain and the proven to me reliability. I'm bettin' the 6.7 and 6 speed auto will be the best drivetrain option available for years to come. Go for it!

However it you decide to slip over to the dark side, I wish you luck with a Ford or Toy.

We'll see. If the new Dodge 6.7 and 6 speed auto gain a great rep over the next few years I'll most likely end up buying a new dually Quad cab, or mega cab dually if they put a long bed on it.

I wish I bought a long bed and my next reget is that I didn't buy a dually, but both of those mistakes were my fault, not Dodge's.

Actually I like the looks of the dually QC more than the dually mega cab and I doubt that would change if they threw a long bed on the MC.

I like trucks.

Ihave a 2003 and love it but I am drooling ove rthe new 6.7's. My 03 was a "first year" for the HP rail injection andthey have turned out to be extrmely reliable. Thats what you get with a cummins so i wouldn't hesitate with the 6.7. No matter what they get better every year.

Trade the truck and the wife (just kidding ont he second one)

I agree with eb290 BS, had my 07 for 9 months and drive like I stole it. 10k and going strong, lots of power on command. Tow a 7k trailer on cruz at 80mph. NO problems, Great truck.

I will have 10K on our Cab and Chassis by this weekend. No problems at all. It'll be a year old in February. It gets worked hard whenever it's used. For you guys that are "waiting a couple of years", these trucks are emissions compliant to 2010. By the time you all "pull the trigger", they will probably have a whole lot more junk hanging off of them.

23000 kms on mine and only a leaky roof light so far. Mileage is an immpressive 12 mpg.

I will try to answer the question on the original post. I have 5623 mi on my 08 purchased Nov. 26, 2007. Only problem is a slight vibration that will not go away (seen the same thing on many 3rd gen 4x4's). I cannot imagine what would make me want to tow with any of the 14 or so Dodge's I have had before this one. I really like this truck and it is beating my 2001 that it replaced in the mpg dept.

Bought my '08 on December 1st. Have ~6400 miles on her right now, 2500 of those having pulled >10000lbs. Hand calculated (not hand guesstimated), i averaged ~13mpg pulling the trailer with 35" tires and 3.42 gears with a 6-Speed manual transmission. Bobtail, mix city and highway, i am averaging about 15mpg. This is with the speedometer being off 3.8mph at 70mph indicated. Once my repaired Respeed module arrives (in transit) and I put it back on the truck, i will be able to get solid numbers based on 99% accurate speed. So far, knock on wood, not a single problem. Heck, i don't think i have even gone into regeneration mode yet as I spend alot of time in the truck at freeway speeds or pulling. From what i have deduced by reading these forums and with my own experience with this truck, the 6.7L platform, like the 5.9L before it, likes to be worked. Put her to use and she will beg for more.
