Help, thought i bought 3.42, but it's 3.73
Could be worse, in '01 I bought a truck with what I was told had 3.73 limited slip, my first excursion in the sand pulling a trailer uncovered the fact that it had an open rear diff, deciphering option codes on the doorjamb confirmed that. Got nowhere with the dealer trying to rectify, but did get the satisfaction of showing him the new truck I bought elsewhere shortly afterwards, and made sure they knew why they didn't get my repeat business.
Are you sure it has 3.73 gears? When the window stickers first came out with the 3.42 axles, they said both 3.73 and 3.42 on the sticker for some lame reason. If you're turning less than 2,000 rpm at 65 mph then you would have 3.42 gears from the ones I've driven.
