This is 70-75mph
In town I average 13.5 to 14
How do you separate out the mileage difference between running "on the flats" and "in the mountains"?? Do you re-fillup after running the flats and then again in the mountains or are you going by the overhead liar??
I have a digital fuel monitor that queries both the factory tank and the aux. tank every 10 secs so I have a pretty accurate "on the fly" reading versus the overhead liar. If you do not calculate after refilling up, to the same exact point in the filler neck, your mpg's are going to be somewhat skewed.

separate mileage

It is pretty easy for me to separate the mileage and yes, it is hand-calculated. I am not relying on the overhead. The front range of Colorado is the "flats". Most of my driving is on the front range to Denver and back between Fort Collins. I fill up before I go and when I return. Mountain driving is the same. I fill up before trips and upon return. Using a completely full tank before and after I can calculate pretty accurately my actual fuel usage vs miles driven.

Cai

Sorry, my fault. CAI stands for cold air intake. (air filter and tube that sends the air to the engine)

the biggest factor is the way folks drive. i see people all the time complain about milage but they are the ones that keep their foot on the puddle up until the stop light then slam on their brakes. its the little things that will give you the good milage. I will be the first to say that i get 23-24mpg on the highway and about 19-20 in town. I coast to lights, i keep it under 65mph and when i get moving i keep it slow. it also helps that i have a 2wd and stock tires.

the biggest factor on these new pickups is the emissions garbage. didn't really matter how i drove i still would never get above 16.

Which CAI do you have? Dry filter or oiled?

Got 18.8 on my last tank. 25% city 75% highway. A few romps here and there. I think I could easily get 20+ if i stayed below 70 and no romps.

That sounds right on. I put 140K on my 06 2500 quad 2wd 5.9 6sp man and would hand calc mpgs all the time with all kinds of loads. Best for me was 26mpg with the cruise at 57. I think those days are now over based on the first 400 miles on my 3500 chassis quad cab 2wd 6.7 with the same 6sp. Mixed driving never exceeding 65 and trying to coast up to lights the best I could got me 16.5. I'm hoping a bed will help aero wise. I am going to switch to 4 225/70/19.5 ASAP and hope that may help.

I Hear A Lot Of Talk About Getting Good Mpg. Im Getting 12-13 Mpg Since The Day I Bought It. Had A Trip To Okc From Arkansas. Started Snowing 20 Miles Down Road. Drove 40-50 Mph And Still Calculated 12-13 Mpg. On Trip Back It Was Hammer Down. 70-8o. Sometimes More. And Still The Same 12-13 Mpg. Tried The Bully Dog Off/tow/performance. No Change In Mpg. I Just Dont Think It Will Ever Get Better.

I just love it when the 5.9 guys chime in!!

I could get 20 all day long with my 99 but this is not a 99 it is an 08 and the best I have ever seen it 16.5 driving like all my toes on my right foot were broke!!

If you're referring to theoilfieldworm, I highly doubt it...........read his signature........(6) 22.5's and a 6" lift won't contribute to good fuel economy, even more so if he's not correcting for his tire size.
