Fast Regeneration
Fast Regeneration
Here's a quick question for you guys: I got the regeneration notification on the EVIC today and took the truck out on the interstate to clear it. What I've noticed is that the process took a lot longer in the past and this time I only had to drive a few miles, maybe 5 minutes total for the DPF to clear itself. Can it be that the newest flashes are causing the regen cycles to be much shorter? If that's the case, I'm happy. Less miles, time and fuel needed for the process.
One more question: If I'm not near a road where I can travel above 50 MPH can the regen process be completed by increasing the RPM's by choosing a lower gear? IOW, is the regen process dependent on engine RPM's, vehicle speed or both? Thanks for your input...

Mr. ED:
I've got a 2008 and with current flash updates. I've never seen the notice on my overhead, but I have an Edge Insight that shows me when I am in Regen.
What does you overhead say when / before you go into Regen?
My regens take about 12-15 miles on the highway at 60 MPH.

I'm trying to remember the exact words because the wording was different before the new updates were performed. The sequence was something like this:
Regeneration required>Cat 80% full>regeneration in progress>regeneration completed.
Like I said, the whole process was over very quick and didn't necessitate driving too many miles on the highway. Somebody wrote on another forum that the newer flashes may be causing more frequent but shorter regens but I think the jury is still out on how these things regen when the latest updates are applied.
