Exhaust brake on 6.7

I actually have two questions. First when you get on the road (longer trip) do you leave your exhaust brake on or off? Second, do you notice any difference in mileage with it on verses off.

thanks in advance

Randy

I keep my EB on and haven't noticed a mileage drop. That said, the only reason for a decrease in mileage with the EB, is adding power to regain speed in stop and go situations.

Always on. If you start slowing down to fast or if you don't want the EB to come on. You just have to touch the accelerator pedal and the EB goes off.

I run mine all the time. I haven't noticed a mileage difference but then again, it's rare that I drive with the brake off.

I only turn mine on if 1) I'm towing something, 2) I'm getting off the freeway as going up long off ramps is fun with the E/Brake on, or 3) I'm stopping next to a Chevy or Ford and want them to hear my exhaust and Turbo Whistle. It's fun watching them turn their heads and look )

I turn mine on in heavy traffic to scare people out of my way.

Keeps people on their toes behind you as well.. Pretty much come to a quick halt without even having the brake lites on.. It surely beats the heck out of the Allison Grade brake. I have had a chance now to use both, the Ebrake is just so much better. From what I have read so far it also has the highest retarding Ft-lbs on the market over and above any aftermarket brake. I think it was around 220 ft-lbs retard with the highest aftermarket being around 190..

I use it all the time.

I test-drove a 6.7 for the first time today. The salesman told me running the Engine Brake would help keep the particulate filter clean. Does that sound reasonable?

Yes as much as i don't like salesmen he's right. Leaving it on is suppose to help burn out everything in your particulate filter. Plus it sounds Sweet. Leave that puppy on.

Is there anyway to keep it on permanently without having to push the button? Sometimes I forget to do it.
