Engine fires?

Hey guys I was just at the dealership with my 04. PoSsible trade on a 10. But a 07 to 09 came in with 6.7. Had huge engine fire. Truck looked totalled to me. Asked a bit about it. Wouldn't tell me what happened. Is this a 6.7 problem? Truck looked very clean. Box had no scratches or dents! Pry some city truck ha.

Noop, not normal. I have never heard of it. With the economy the way it is I would not be surprised if it was an insurance claim thing.

There was a recall on the dash silencer pad which is what Chrysler calls the insulation on the engine side of the firewall. Seems that the pad was sagging down on top of the EGR cooler and catching fire. Could be what happened to that truck.

I just had my annual inspection done on my truck and my machanic showed me that the battery cable had sagged down from the left inside frame was was rubbing against the front drive shaft. The insulation had just about worn through and I was looking at an engine fire within the next few months if this had not been cought.
Now I have a C&C, but I wonder if this holds true for all of the trucks.

Next time your under your truck, take a look at the battery cables and any other wiring and make sure it is not rubbing against anything.
