AUGUST 3, 2006 -- Ford Motor Co. has cumulatively recalled 6.7 million vehicles since January 2005 that are equipped with a Texas Instruments speed control deactivation switch that has been linked to dozens of engine fires. The recall, although massive, is incomplete and leaves millions of Ford owners fending for themselves.
Fires linked to the switches have destroyed homes in Texas, Florida, California and elsewhere. In addition, wrongful-death lawsuits have been filed against Ford and two of its suppliers alleging that defective switches caused fires that killed a 74-year-old Iowa woman and a 4-year-old girl in Georgia.
Blake Washington died in a fatal fire that swept through her family's rural home Jan. 1, 2004, in Kennesaw, Ga. In their lawsuit, her parents claimed that the fire started in a 2001-model Ford F-150 -- one of the vehicles included in the latest recall.

This is nothing new. Ford did expand the recall to numerous other vehicles. I know because My speed control deactivation switch started leaking brake fluid on my 96 F-150. I got the replacement part from a Dealership and installed it myself. Ford then expanded the recall to include my truck and Ford refunded my money for the part I bought. Ford has expanded this recall twice since then.
It is not just Ford here people. I remember GM with their outside the frame fuel tanks. Took some BS reporting to bring it to light, but it was addressed. I am sure Dodge has one like that too...

and find the article about the Chrysler seat warmers actually giving folks 2nd degree burns.
mostly folks who paralyzed from waist down, are getting roasted without knowing it, till they smell something burning.
there's bad stuff with every kind of emblem on the door.

my wifes 98 expedition had the recall. we took it in to the dealer to have the necessary work done they told her that the parts were backordered.they just disconnected it and it took them 8 months to get the new part.
Perish the thought! I never looked it up but I wonder if there was ever a recall on the '77 Dodge I had. The wiring was awful, sometimes I'd turn it off and it'd stay running until a plume of smoke arose from the under the dashboard.
