Electronic 4wd

Is there an delay in the 4wd engagement with the electronic system?
I'm used to the floor shifts for 4wd, this is my 1st dash mounted rotary system, curious as to how everyone is using them?

Not any more than my floor shifted 99. They still have to actuate the engagement collar in the front diff so it takes a few seconds

Seems quick enough to Hi range. Low range takes me a bit longer. Just playing with it.

Luck of the draw if the splines match up if you are stopped. If you are rolling slow (as suggested in the manual) it is as fast as you will need. I have even engaged going faster than you are supposed to with no ill effects. To disengage you need to go straight etc to get any bind off. All my pickups have been manual hubs before and though I have never been really comfortable with the knock on fuel mileage as well as wear and tear, I have to say that it is handier than I imagined it being.

I have a Unimog for tough condition work/play and it engages and locks on the fly too with a very different mechanism though I would like ARB lockers but like I say I have the Mog for stuff like that.
