I too am conservative in nature. For the last year or so have been reading the post on DTR and Cummins forum concerning the 6.7. I told myself I'd never get one , times change. Have come to the conclusion that inevitable somwhere down the road if you have the 6.7 you will experience some kind of problem with the emission system. The thing about it, my truck has only 720 miles on the OD and its a shame that in order to keep it on the road I'll have to pull the plug on a brand new vehicle.

dam n you must have a hybrid with a 6.7 in it to be getting that

18 empty is believeable.I think my mileage is great at around 16 city/21hwy/12 towing. I wish the towing mileage was higher but it is what it is. That's pulling only 4500lb and at 55mph too. The trailer is pretty big though.....

I did a 500mile trip with the EGR unplugged and got 18.8mpg UNLOADED. I have not towed with the egr unplugged yet. A friend of mine with a 2500 is getting 22mpg unloaded. the biggest difference is the coolers EGT's and the cooler IAT. I put 4.10's in mine to lessen the load on the engine and bring the EGT's down before I knew about the EGR plug trick. I am thinking about going back to 3.73's now.

What's wrong with that? This is Imp. Gal mind you, not US Gal. - I get 23/24 hwy consistently hand calculated, and 19/20 towing ~8000 lbs (Iltis, quad, and fuel on my 18' car hauler).

Well, I'm not sure of the conversion from Canadian gallons to "Real" gallons but the person claiming that is in the states and I'm sure he was referring to our gallons. I just cannot believe that number but if he does then it's fine with me.

I have 700 miles on the beast now and I finally hand calculated my mileage. A combination of city and highway was 17.5 mpg and the overhead was 17.7, so very little difference. I have got 19.5 on the overhead driving a distance of50 miles between 60 and 65 mph. Egr has been unpluged since 200 miles.
