I guess my deal now is after reading everyones post is this..... OK, it would be BETTER to get the dually to pull... we do pull alot but noe everyday like some here do.. I would like to still drive it everyday. Ive had a few friends tell me that Pulling = AWESOME Driveing everyday = Sucks ....... your thoughts or maybe someone reading this will you put in your $.02

Just trying to make the overall smartest buy...

That was exactly my point earlier. If you need it great. If you do a lot of other things too, then be sure you factor those into your decision. It would be a shame to end up not liking your truck much or not using it much because it was so specialize and large.

It's entirely your decision. Posts that simply say "get the dually" or get the "SRW" are not valid. Get the one that is right for you. No truck does everything well. I guess that's why we all "need" a stable of vehicles.

I'm in the same position as you. I'm currently on my way to Idaho to look at the Dodge line at Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg. Just this morning I approached a fellow camper at the campground (San Lorenzo County Park, King City, CA) who was towing a 34' 5th wheel with a SRW Ford diesel truck. Since I would really prefer the SRW over the dually I questioned him at length regarding any issues he's had with his setup. He stated that the SRW worked just fine in his situation and he's been all around the country with this setup. I was glad to hear that because the fifth wheel I'm considering is only 29.5 feet and therefor lighter. He also told me that his truck is 2WD and has never found the need for 4WD as he tours America.

I agree that duallies (and 4WD) definitely have their merits but if I can safely tow with a SRW, 2WD setup I can't see purchasing unnecessary add-ons if they're not really needed. Yes, I believe in the K.I.S.S. principle (Keep It Simple.......).

Mr, Ed,
If you are willing to go to Idaho to look at trucks then check out Carson Dodge in Carson City, NV. They usually have about 200-300 Trucks on the lot!!!!!
