I dont understand the proven statement , most of the 5.9 parts are used in the 6.7 engine , Cummins has been using EGR in the truck engine since 2002 along with the VGTurbo. pretty much the only changes are in the block for increase in bore size and increase stroke crank,

There are no internal engine parts that interchange from the 5.9. We have two of the 6.7's in the shop now and both are sitting waiting on parts backlogs because of piston failures.

The 5.9 never had a VG Turbo, at least not in the Ram Pickups.

If we hook them up, who pulls who? That is the question.

Ok, what failed, any opinion on what caused it? How many miles, any mods? Don't just leave it hanging like that. I have certainly had no problems.

VG Turbo is Variable Geometry Turbo, or variable vane turbo. The design is supposed to help low boost lag while still providing the higher boost of a regular charger. From what I read all the new 6.7 engines were supposed to have an Aisin transmission behind them, but perhaps they are limited to the Chassis Cab trucks....not sure.

the AISIN is only for the cab & chassis trucks. Dodge has another 6-speed auto that will come in the 2500 and 3500 pick up trucks. It won't have a pto option like the AISIN does.

It's the same concept, but with a simpler design.

The Holset VGT has one moving part(think of it as a slide gate) whereas the VVT(variable vane turbo) on the Fords has multiple vanes that move to change the geometry of the turbo.

The Holset VGTurbo has been a good turbo for the 5.9 since 2002 in the truck engine , no it hasnt been in the DCx engine , I havent seen what version is being used on the 07 DCx engine yet , but if it is the same version as use in the 07 truck engine , the actuator is a smart device with it own processor.

You guys are driving me crazy! I ordered my 2500 Laramie 6.7 6sp manual two weeks ago and can't wait to get it. We go to Greensboro Friday to pick up our 19' Airstream with our 98 Dakota V8 manual. The 6.7 Cummins should allow us to tow any size Airstream. I'll get a picture up of both in the RV area when it arrives.
