DPF questions

Has anyone removed their DPF and gutted it out then put the gutted DPF back on the truck?

Any problems with the truck other then emissions and more soot out the tail pipe?

for the cost of a replacement DPF (if you ever need to put it back in for some reason) i would recomend just putting a delete pipe in it.............unless north dakota is more stringent on emissions testing than i imagine they are...just my .02

I did it, but bought a used one that was on fleabay. Cost 200 and was pluged up and I used a hole saw with a extension and it had no problem. That way I can put it back on in less than a hour

Thanks for the replys.

Any improvements in anything with just the DPF gutted?

I'm assuming one would never get a regen or DPF full message/code?

How about the regen for counter time, any problems with codes or anything I'm not thinking of.

I have no codes with the H&S tuner. I say that if you do it than you need a tuner. It also shuts off the EGR without removal. Caliornia is a ***** about smog and check every year now. My mileage has gone up to 20 unloaded and while towing did not improve much the power, response and torque is great. I put it back on one month prior to the test and clean the EGR and tailpipe. So far they have not checked for the foot print from the tuner as it adds a boot loader I believe.

With a DPF gutted and no tuner you will get codes for DPF differential pressure.

If it doesn't ruin the pavement your good in ND, no emissions.

Thanks Blake, Brian, and 2006. That's the information I was looking for. I was thinking I could gut the DPF and not have any DPF full problems with maybe a little better fuel mileage since it wouldn't need to go into regen and no lower back pressure. Oh well if it can not be done without a programmer I'll just leave it all alone for now.

That's a good one and pretty much true.
