I did what you are thinking of doing ( i think ) with 2 gutted out 5.9 cats and it was 4 inches. No special adapters were needed. As for sound, it is a bit louder but that is ok. I like to hear the motor. I love my truck now. Better mileage, better sound and better performance.

Thanks. It looks like it's different size pipe on each end though. And yes I am talking about that piece between the delete and the muffler.
Mnmlod, you went a bit further than i am. I already did the H&S delete but I want to quiet it down a bit by replacing that piece of pipe with a 5.9 CAT. I just don't want to weld the pipe I put on it without making sure of what size I need......
