Different types of oil

I was at Rural King tonight looking at some oil for my truck, I usually get Rotella but saw some different brands and thought I would ask if any of you guys use them. The ones I saw were Harvest King 15-40, Mystic 15-40, Lubriguard 15-40, have you guys used any of these oils and how do you like?
They are cheaper than Rotella.

Sorry, I use nothing but Valvoline Premium Blue. The last three gallons I bought were on sale for $9.99 at NAPA.

BTW you pay for what you get.

I've never felt that the off-brand oils were so much cheaper as to be worth settling for, given the risk associated with an oil of insufficient quality.

Make sure you use an oil that is API CJ-4 rated. Any of the major oils (Delo, Delvac, Rotella, Premium Blue) are more than adequate and are excellent choices.

Cummins pushes the Premium Blue because it's what we use in house for all engine testing- and that, because Ashland basically developed the original formula to Cummins' specifications.

The relationship between Cummins and Ashland (valvoline) now is basically tradition and history. We don't even bother to test other oils to see if one is better.

Delo, Delvac, Rotella, Premium Blue and Mobil 1 are all good. But there are only so many companies that develop and sell oils. They also blend and ship of other companies, per their specifications. Brand name or not. The company I worked for did their own and for 6 others. It was cheaper to have the refineries blend, bottle and ship for that pad (mine area was pad5) then any other way.

As stated and has been stated in many other threads, buy a quality brand name that meets the specifications of Cummins. Then you know your getting what the engine needs. A full sny is best for any engine that is not leaking or burning it.

But oil, gasoline and diesel can be from the company on the bottle or the station, or it can be from a competitor if the price was right for the buyer.

The oil company I worked 31 years for is not in the area I retired in, but their fuel stations are here and their oil is sold here. Via from help of other companies. Same specs as from the refineries.

Like HOHN said... To me, it is worth the price to see that Cummins logo on the premium blue.
