It's a small tin (probably) plate that attaches over the firewall/cowl insulation to prevent it from ever falling down. Requires drilling two holes into the cowl (underneath the hood) through the insulation and mounting this plate.

My dealer said this was a VIN specific recall and the my brand new '08 didn't need it. Does this sound right?

First I heard of the reprograming of the overhead can you give more details and/or a TSB #/ flash code?

My Invoice identifies the pad bracket, but not the flashes. Here is what I have for flashes:

4275086-AB...............Label Gen 14086100
68049170-AA.............Label Die 18079005

Maybe someone here will tell us what the numbers mean.

The 4275086-AB is just a generic label where the updates are written on. It is normally affixed to the radiator support to notify the next person who works on it of what updates it has. The tech should have written what TSB he was going by under "authority".

The 68049170-AA is a label that goes on your visor to explain possible messages in your overhead. It also comes with an informational DVD featuring Sam Memmolo and a supplemental book for your owners manual.
