Check Gauges

Hi All,
New guy here....Traded in the 2000 5.9 and got a NEW 07 6.7 with under 10 miles on it...Ran it until about 2500 miles and started to get "Check Gauges" light going on then off...over and over ...then the check engine light came on....then off again.....Dealer says don't bother bringing it in unlesss you can make it do it when it's here for repair.

So I went out and ran the **** out of it about twice through all the gears with the switch shift.

It stopped the "Check gauges" light from comming on and the "Check Engine" light from comming on too. My average miles per gal went from 13.3 to 15.1...now 3 week later and a couple hunderd miles later...it's doing it again.

I have checked the gauges every time it came on in the past...All looked at all fluids as well..nothing looked low.

I run empty most of the time but do pull a boat once in a while.

Is the exhaust getting plugged up with the smog crap or a sensor going bad...why the big difference in mileage...sensor wrong?

I'm really disapointed in Dodge/ Cummins...we wonder why we can't compete in world markets anymore....I wonder if Kobota made a 3/4 ton truck....I might just buy one.....15 years of service with my tractor and no problems so far. This is my second Deisel and would not go back to gas.....but dam this is just wrong not being able to get a good Dodge the first time around.

out of line

OK...I shouldn't post when I'm upset with our beloved Dodge maker or dealer...I was out of line... I have owned my Chrysler products than any other by far....What gets me is that it seems the older products were better at times that brand new state of the art stuff that costs 10 times as much. I know all new products can have problems...
I did the latest re-call at the dealership...I sat and waited 1/2 the day for that repair... Another guy theren waited 3 1/2 hours for an oil change...with an appointment..... I will be taking it back Monday for the Check Gauge light going on and off problem....
The truck is way stronger than my 5.9 and the trans is nice along with the exhaust braking....
Bad time to have a 13MPG truck...but it can do what other trucks can't.
I have herd of many problems with the new 6.7....oh well.....they get it right sooner or later......That's the problem in buying a new truck and not knowing what problem may be in store.

Any advice is welcome...

100 readers and NO ANSWERS

I guess no body knows anything about the "Check Gauges" light or any common problems about why they come on....I would have thought 1 out of 100 might have a comment or offer help.
I took the truck in to the dealer and he told me that 90% of the time it's the same problem on all the new 6.7 trucks. I never found any information about this problem he told me about on any of the pages here.Maybe I didn't look long & hard enough. He also told me a setting I should put the truck in to avoid having the same problem from happening as often. The truck is due back for a procedure this friday ...they have had to do on MANY MANY 6.7s and seems to be fix for "Check Gauges" and "Engine Light" comming on with LOW MILEAGE engines most of the time....it's NOT a Flash reset or a program setting .... it's a simple cure for the main problem these truck engines have....I was very happy to learn about this problem.....and the fix...and ways he said to avoid it in the future and it's at NO COST to me.
So I'm pleased with the news and understand more about why it happends. I will let you all know how it runs after I get it back from the dealer this Friday.
He told me that all the truck owners can't believe what a BIG difference the fix made and told him that they thought he had installed a NITROS system or something.
Just thought you might want to KNOW....

Well, time for you to run it again and get another 2MPG out of it. Another 6 times or so, and you should get real good milage.

I read about issues with the 6.7 when folks idle more than what what Chrysler wants you to idle; how is your idle time?

For myself, I'm looking forward to the 2012s. I should be about finished with my '03 and ready to retire into a newer Laramie.

I haven't read anything about 6.7s getting the check guages light. The check engine light was a big issue with the 07.5s but the 08s don't seem to be having that issue so bad.
It's not that nobody cares, but sometimes people just don't have an answer to a topic so they choose not to post anything that won't help the original poster... Don't take it personally.

Why does this sound like an infomercial? Sounds too good to be true...

If you find out exactly what they did to your truck, please post here. I'm interested to hear this.

That's funny. Now that I read it back slowly I agree with you. Let me guess! If I order now do I get a second one free, just pay shipping and handling!?!?

J/K!! I'd sure like to know what he is referring to.........
