Cheap Fuel Filters on Ebay
Are those cheap fuel filters on ebay any good? At $16-$20, they sound pretty good but are they any good? Do they dissolve in diesel fuel? The price is a whole lot better than the $70 or so parts houses and Dodge want for a fuel filter. I'm going to need to change my fuel filter soon, if not now. I've got a 6.7 with about 20,000 miles on it and figure I'm due. Do I save some money or get the real thing??

FYI, Baldwins run $13-$18. What are you buying that you are spending $70 per filter?

Every time I've checked the price for my truck's fuel filter it's been around $70-$75. I've got a '07 6.7. I'd love to get by with a $15-$20 filter but I don't think that's gonna happen.

DEFINTELY don't want to skimp out on your fuel filtration.
Get your filters (and other parts, for that matter) from genosgarge.com. The 6.7 fuel filters are about $45 each, and may have even recently gone up like everything else , but you cannot beat their customer service or the quality of their products and they are extremely competitve with their pricing!!!

The early 07.5 to 08 used a different filter and canister than the 09-10. The original was a single layer filter and did not do so well. The newer, dual layer filter is good for 98% of 5 micron crap. It is an easy task to convert to the new filter by purchasing the Fleetgaurd FS43257 housing with the FS43258 filter element the first time, and then just continue to buy the filter element. Many of those filters on ebay are the early style and will NOT fit in the later canisters.

I know that Genoes Garage has the Fleetguard filter and cansiter as a set and also just the filter. At one time, WIX was putting their sticker on Fleetguard filters. Might call Carquest or any other WIX dealer and see if that is still the case.

a better way to go is to add a filter setup using filters used on large engines. and never change the stock filter. by the way add a gauge to the cp3 and do not change filter until it has a drop of about 3 psi under load. at this point the filter is filtering 2x better than a new filter. the filter setup in the pix cost $75 including filters, the first filter is a true w/s with the same rating as the stock outer filter element. the next 2 micron filter has a little better rating than the inner stock filter rating. the earliest we have ever had to change filters was 150,000 miles
