Black Smoke???

Hey guys... I am kind of new to the forum and thinks its great. I have black smoke pouring out of the tail pipe when I put my foot on the gas. I had a re-flash done last month and was wondering if i should be concerned with the smoke? I have heard that there are more re-flashes to come that are supposed to fix this problem. Just wondering if anybody else is having this issue with the 6.7 and what i need to do to fix it. Thanks

yea if it is a 6.7 it should not be putting out smoke because of all the emissions they have the dealer needs to look at that

Yeah I would say you have something wrong cause mine on the hot juice setting mine does not even smoke none. They say if you take the dpf and the cat the edge pour smoke out. So why are some people truck are smoking with all the emission stuff on there truck.

Yeah i am taking it into the dealer today. They said another re-flash came out about a week ago and it may fix the problem. i sure hope it does, i am tired of the re-flashes.

If its burned through and nothing is wrong leave it that way. Thats what everyone is trying to get done.

Yeah...the dealer told me that it would may run better with it this way. Diesels are supposed to smoke, I dont have a problem with it at all, i m used to having a truck that smokes. I was just worried that it may mess other things up, but seeing how they say it cant hurt then why should i change it? Are there set backs to not fixing this?

mine smokes.. and i like it.. absolutely no problems so far... and i havent had a clog problem, or ever had my overhead computer say "CATALYST STAT" EVER!.. so either its burnt up, like mentioned earlier.. or its just working.. but hell, if its smoking, its not clogging i'll stick with the smoke. 6700 miles on and counting

You need to find out what happened to make it burn out because you could make some $$$$$ off of that info!

You are going to be so ****** off when they put the filter back on. I bet it is making a lot more with that thing burnt to a crisp.

Don't worry about the cat being burnt, or replacing it. You wont get one for a while. There are over 500 cats on back order right now. And it being burnt out will cost you extra fuel. I am still waiting for mine to be fixed, I have over 15500 miles in less than 7 weeks. And they don't know how to fix it, they are just replacing parts hoping to get it right lol.
