Fram is the worst filter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In fact, Wal Mart won't change oil in our trucks unless you bring your own filter, that is not a Fram... due to lawsuits from Fram faliures.

The Fleetguard stratapore is easily the best lower cost filter. A Donaldson (or the Amsoil made by Donaldson) are the "best", meaning they filter to a smaller size particulate than the others.

Fram had a history of having fibers come loose in the filter media and causing the cooling jets to plug to the pistons. This caused a few widespread failures of the Cummins engine in particular.

Best bet is to buy Fleetguard filters. Stratapore is the best media filter out there for filtration quality. You can get them at any Cummins engine retailer. And depending on weather you want to pull the filter from the bottom or the top will determine if you use the older LF3894 filter or the new LF16035. The newer ones have the wrench flats on the bottom for the special adapter.

Any other place to get the Fleetgaurd. Closest Cummins dealer is almost 100 miles from me.

Or any other quality filter that can be had at a parts house?

How about a Freightliner dealer? I know some farm centers that carry CASE parts have them or equivalent.

I have a hard time chasing down to save $3 on a filter you only change every 10,000 Km.. so in 100,000Km I save $30? Big deal..

Blake, If you order from Genos they ship right to your door. Buy a stockpile.

Approx $12.00 each for the Stratapore. If you are not going to use synthetic oils, then you could uses the standard LF3972 at approx $8.00 each.

Sure.. You have to be careful on the micron rating as in is it absolute or nominal. But its harder for me to source out Amsoil products like that. And I guess I'm just as stuck in my ways. Been using Fleetguard filters since 98..
