Emissions are checked at the same time as the safety inspection in TX and NC, the two states I live in. (TX now, NC next year)

I will seriously consider the Delete if I can find a specially shop locally that is experienced with the process. Any one with contacts in Arlington, TX or Charlotte, NC?

The emmisions were not checked on my truck when it was inspected in March of this year and I am in Texas. I think it depends on the county you live in.

Depends on where in Texas you live. Big cities/ counties have testing. Smaller, rural areas don't.

no, no cities or counties in texas test diesels for emmisions. only gas vehicles. diesels are a safety inspection only.

You know I keep looking for this in writing somewhere and just have had no luck. I have been told by guys that work with CARB and the EPA that it will be 50 states. I have however seen it in writing for CALIF. I imagine that if it isn't in 2010, that it will be soon after so I would keep anything removed, and keep that in mind when removing excessive stuff.
Also, I think the rule is that any vehicle needs to be at least 4 years old before they start testing, so that may give us an extra year. But who knows, they may decide to test right away if they think we are messing with stuff.
ALSO. I DID read that with probable cause, they can pull you in and have it tested on the spot. So excessive smoke will most likely get you busted.
BUMMER!

Got the 2262 code today, and I drive her hard 90% of the time. I tow the 7500 lb trailer 5 days of the week, 30 miles one way down a 60pm 4 lane highway, then stop and go the rest of the day till I head back up the 4 lane.

I would think that would be enough time to do the regen and de-soot mess but I guess not.

Since I use it for work every day I can't have it gone for 2-3 days. I go on vacation in 3 weeks. Will it be okay at 650 miles/week until then?

How did they CLEAN it? Technically, it can't be Cleaned. only regened.

I was told they would flush out the exhaust pipes and run the truck with out the exhaust, this would clean the turbo and then drive and do a regen.

After my de-sooting I drove the truck for 3 days and got another CEL... Got the 2262 and drove it two more days then the engine light went out. Got the system normal on the overhead the entire time.
I guess it is ok to keep driving as long as the truck runs good?

Any ideas???

not likely. while our trucks meet 2010 emissions, i can't see them checking trucks manufactured before 2010. they would have to tell all of the ford and gm guys that they would have to come into compliance too. where would you draw the line? not going to happen. dodge just went 2010 compliant early for epa credits and to get the system running early and try to get the kinks worked out. the other companies will have new systems for 2010.
