My '95 had a cat, my '98 12v didn't have a cat or a resonator, my '01.5 had a cat and my '03 SO didn't. The resonators and cats were two completely different animals. In '95, a new cat was about $600 in the even you needed one. Just FWIW...

I may be wrong or way off on this but .....

The way I understand the sensors on the DPF is there are air and temp sensors in front of the DPF and a set behind it.. they measure the difference in the pressure and temp from the input to the DPF to the output to determine if it is clogged and if regen is needed....

If that is correct why couldn't you just put fittings on a straight piece of pipe and put all the sensors back.. wouldn't it just sense that the PDF is flowing freely and it is not clogged????

So pretty much most of the first gens. and some of the second gens and all 3rd gens from 04.5 and up that are straight piped are theoretically breaking the same "laws" as we want to. We only have more to try to get rid of so its a bigger deal to get done. I feel that if all those before mentioned guys can talk about it we should be able to as well? Its just a mod that some of us are trying to do to free our trucks. Its not about the polution i love that it doesnt polute i am a huge hunter and sportsman. Its about having a $40,000 truck that is sitting at the dealer and will be for a couple weeks and its all due to a stupid exhaust system that was not tested enough before release. Personally I think this motor is AWESOME and has huge things to come in the future. All i want to do is FIX my truck and if removing the exhaust does that then so be it. I dont care if it adds or subtracts horse power i just want the truck to be as reliable as it has the potential to be.

Dusty, it is the pretty much the same thing. Only way that they test or that they will tell you to put it on is at an emissions test. Same as earlier models.

Shorty, That is some possitive news for a change. I am getting tired of all the negative feedback. Im kinda the glass is half full guy not almost empty as some feel about this stuff.

Gerry, i hope it will be that easy. It does make sense and i can see it working unless you had to much power at any one time and pushed your egt's up on a pull or something. If i had the time (or my truck in my posession) I would try it. I think a bolt on that bolts on from the front of the DPF connection back would be sweet, mostly so you could keep your old exhaust and turn it back if you wanted.

What if you put a resonator in the dpfs place and put the sensors back in . That would show some difference in flow but not get stoped up. What I have been hearing is that if it flows to much it will throw a code and this could be the answer.

Just got the call from the dealer that my truck is done. Replaced the cat,DPF, and put in the new software. Was down for 4 days, which is a lot better than i thought it was going to be. We will see how long it lasts but the next time i see Cat full on the screen i am getting a hack saw and going from there

What about a sensor eliminator or fooler? When I wanted to take my cats off my mustang they had a mil eliminator that you plugged into the rear sensors to fool the computer.
