6.7l valve adjustment

posted this in DTR land somewhere! But anyway, can someone please point me to a link on adjusting the valve lash on my beast? Just done the head and need to get her tuned in and get the rattles gone. Thanks for the help!

I go 0.010" on the intake, 0.020" on the exhaust. Just make sure that the valve you are working on is on the base circle of the cam. If you don't know if the piston is at TDC and you are on the base circle of the cam, you can be super safe and adjust the exhaust when the intake starts to close and the intake when the exhaust start to open.

I just did mine. With the valve cover off rotate the motor by hand. I used a 15mm socket on the harmonic balancer. Rotate it till you find the TDC mark then mark it some how. I used welders soap stone, rotate it to 12:00 position. It is kinda hard to see and may have to make several trips under the truck for this one. As Tobin stated use the 10 and 20. It worked great for me. If both number one rocker arms are loose you can adjust intakes 1,2,4 and exhaust 1,3,5 Then rotate the motor one full turn till at the 12:00 again and adjust intakes 3,5,6 exhaust 2,4,6. You will need an angled feeler gage. Me I just bent mine in a vice on about a 45 degree angle to give me room. The specs according to the service manual is Intake 6-15 exhaust 21-34. Just be careful of the wires going to the injectors. Very easy job. I used a 3/8 ratchet with a cheater pipe and the 15mm socket to rotate the motor. Hope this helps.
