6.7 Vibrations and Tranny pop out??

Well, for the first time im about to bring my truck to the dealer tuesday after the holiday. Im starting to notice a couple vibes when in reverse almost like its about to die on me but not so bad, I started to back up and it popped out of gear and on the dash the tranny was in no posisition at all, weird!!! From what I read on other posts it is a simple cable adjustment for the tranny. I also notice whenever I put gear from drive to nuetral it clunks. Has anybody else had these problems. I also notice loss of power from here and there.

Heres the funny part, I towed 18k pounds all around Florida sunday for about 650 miles. IT RAN PERFECT. As soon as i dropped off my trailer, my truck felt like a race car!!! This morning I went to panera bread and it felt like a dawg!!!! My trailer weighs in at 6600 pounds by itself and i felt it had more zip last night then today!!!!! Either way, my truck has just under 4000 miles and im gonna get its first oil change tuesday along with the newest flash and hopefully fix the clunk!!

ANY THOUGHTS??????????

Yeah, I get the dropping out of gear when putting it in "R" also.... a dealer tech told me that it is a whimpy design and the bracket that holds the cable by the steering coumn bends around alot and is the cause of the gear drop out.... he wouldn't elaborate on the fix, but said that it could be adjusted (I wonder if there even a real fix). Another girl overheard me while I was asking him, and chimed in with the same problem. They know there is a prob but my first dealer denied ever hearing about it at all! I'm saving that fix when I take it in for other issues.

Read of others with the clunk and they say it's normal, mine doesn't do it.... yet. That the same thing I said until my computer threw the P245A code at me today!

My dealer baulked at me when I asked for the latest flash.... not unless it having a problem was my interpretation.

Get ready for the classic dealer reply of... "Could not duplicate problem at this time!" Good Luck!

I believe the reason for your truck feeling like a "race car" is from the torque management software that has been featured on these engines since 2003. Basically the ECM detunes the torque of the engine up to 15% on a '04 5.9 engine from 555 lbs down to 460 lbs when in 1st gear and empty (my truck) to prevent over heating an auto tranny or burning a clutch in a manual tranny. Feel free to search for "Torque Management" for additional info.
