6.7 fuel milage?

Sorry if this has been beat to death but I couldnt get the search function to pull anything up.

My dad is lookin to buy a new truck and it will be a cab and chassis 6sp manual but he is a ford guy. He is not apposed to the dodges but he is curious about the MPG on the 6.7s. I know the 6.4s are junk and I dont even know if you can get a manual with them or not.

Any info would be great.
Thanks

I have 3000 miles on my truck in sig and I get 15 around town and about 17 hwy/interstate. Mileage slowly increasing as is power. Truck has not been to dealer a single time for anything yet.

We just got back from Glacier National Park and put about 3,000 miles on the trip. At 70mph and towing my 27ft 5th wheel I averaged 9-10 mpg. I have 10,000 miles on the truck. Sure I would like to see better mileage but it's a pleasure to tow with.

Just rechecked mine at 6000 miles and got 15.9 mostly around town and going light on the pedal.
First tank was 14.5 then 15.5. Don't know what I'd get on an unloaded trip , but expect 17- 18 would be normal.
Hope it improves as the miles roll up.

THe one I drove 500 mile trip, best I could get was 14mpg in a 4x4 mega. I'd try to find a 5.9L if I were you.

The gear ratio is important. On my 6.7 with 3.73, I am getting around 16MPG (still on my first tank). Once the engine is broken in, I am told that I can expect high teens, maybe even 20.

Same here with the truck in my sig. The old dually had 26K on it when my son bought it from me, and empty it got 15.7 (80% city/20% hwy). My new on is still on the first tank, but so far it is reading 15.5 (90% city/10% hwy), but that will undoubtedly improve with a few trips to the office (all hwy 45 miles away). The old dually got 12.4 with the 5th wheel trailer, we'll see about this one when I get some towing miles on it. Both are 4x4, and from what I can tell, the 4x4 costs about 1.5 mpg and the dually costs another 1.0 mpg (or there abouts). I get 4x4 simply because I make multiple hunting trips every year in a place where it is needed.

I had one it had 8500 miles it before I traded for a 5.9 again and the best I could get out of was 13.6 driving 65 with cruise set and that was hand calulated. And I got about 10-11 in town. My buddy had the same truck and he saw the same kind of mileage. So I guess we both had bad 6.7. Cause my 5.9 the first two tanks so far I put right at 600 miles to the tank and my 6.7 would not get 400 miles to the tank.

3.73 gears in mine, first 1000 miles I got around 14-15 hand calculated 80%freeway/ 20%city

@ 75mph according to overhead, best so far was 18.5, and that was on the 528 down in orlando (flat road, no traffic, cruise control)

I towed my 2400lb gooseneck on a 130 mile round trip with 800lbs of scrap metal (one way) & back to the house, 50/50 city/highway hand calculated I got 12.1mpg

just clocked over 3k on mine & its stock other than S&B intake (love that sound)

Good info guys, thats what I was lookin for. Anybody had any problems out of the 6.7s yet?

I am interested to see how these milage numbers change or dont change in the months to come. ie, if the filters start gettin clogged, or if maybe with 15-20 thousand breakin miles it gets better.

HammerDown, I have had all the experience I need with the 6.4s. The above statement was an opinion and maybe I should have kept it to myself. I appologize if I have offended you but I didnt mean to start a brand war, just lookin for MPG figures.

Keep the numbers comin guys.

My dad has a new 6.7 with the manual. It's a four dour dually and got 16 one time on the overhead compared to 22-23 in his 03 w/ the 5.9 when driving the interstate the whole time. When the 6.7 is working w/ a load, it'll get as low as 9. The 6.7's drink a little more fuel than the 5.9's stock wise, but not the case w/ my 12V.

We went to louisiana this weekend and the one tank fully burned, hand calc'ed to 16.5 mpg. Overhead started the tank off around 14.2, but was reading as high as 18.2 at fillup time. 07 3/4 ton megacab 4x4 6sp auto. I'm confident the truck will hand calc to 18 or so eventually. 7500 miles at the end of the trip, time for oil change #1 I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see 20 mpg out of 2wd'ers with this engine/tranny soon. My first trip to west Texas the truch had a stumble, ran bad, sputtered etc, but has not repeated that since.
