6.7 Chassis Turbo and Emissions Problems
Well, I had just posted pictures of my western hauler chassis and looks like it jinxed me! A little history: 1. At 220 miles it failed to regenerate properly and check engine light came on. Dealer phoned engineers at Dodge and their answer was it was a computer glitch. 2. At 1200 miles check engine light came on and truck was having trouble regenerating. Took it in and dealer replacement an emmisions trap door that was not opening all the way.
On Sunday night when I shut it off it made a weired knocking banging noise. On Monday after an hour of driving engine light came on and I took it in to the dealer. Dealer said they don't know and phoned Dodge. Dodge was not sure which part of the emissions system was broken, so they said it was okay to still drive. Service manager phoned today and said they want to check out the turbo! What does this have to do with the emissions system? Am I missing something? On monday service manager cleared all previous regenerations because the truck was having trouble completing the current one. All in all it still drives nice. Did I damage the engine? Is this thing a lemon because I love the truck but I need something reliable. What do you guys think is wrong?

If this is the 3rd time back to the shop for the same problem and they still can not fix it, then start the Lemmon Law paperwork. If I were a betting man, I would say that this truck will be a problem child for the rest of its life.
You paid too much $$$ for it to sit at the shop and for you to constantly be driving back to the dealership.
"Nip it in the Bud" and Lemmon it and order a new one ASAP ... don't wait, you'll regret it later.

Turbo and Emission Problems
I've got a 6.7 with about 1200 miles on it and I have not noticed anything to lead me to think it is regenerating. I have read quite a few articles on this engine and none of them have ever said that this is something that happens every so many hundred miles but that it is a continuous process except when the canisters in the exhaust system fills up past 80%. From what I understand that is only supposed to happen after a 100,000 miles or so. This is my first Dodge and so far I am happy with the truck, my mileage started at about 13 mpg but is now up to 16.5 with mixed city and highway driving. Keep us posted on what the dealer says, I am suprised a Dodge certified diesel mechanic doesn't monitor this site.
Well, I think its them their new muffler bearings. Them thangs get burned up all the time..... While your AWESOME new truck is at the shop, have them check the blinker fluid as well.... this is a lead cause of muffler bearings to fail !!!!!

Well, the update:
Service manager phoned me tonight and said Dodge will be overnighting a new trubo, new actuator, and they will also be replacing the exhaust brake. The service guy talked to the turbo company in Indiana and they want it replaced so they can look at it. Some of the people who work for the turbo company are in Arizona right now at the Dodge Proving Grounds and want to come and make sure everything is installed right. Dodge is also interested because the 6.7 engineers said my truck was one of the first built back in September. So far they have seen no other turbo issues. With my luck I was the first!
Good thing it is under warranty because it is costing over 3000 dollars and it has only 2500 miles on it.

Geesh, Lemon Law paperwork already. You got to give them a chance to correct the problem first. If they weren't trying I would say go for it but everyone is getting involved that needs to be including the engineers.
I would agree with Spooler, give them a chance to fix it; obviously theyre tryin. Now if they were blowin you off then yeah, maybe, but its a new truck with a whole new emissions system that nobody has experience with yet, so I think its a bit early to label it a lemon...
