50,000 miles on my cab and chassis
I rolled over 50,000 miles today on my cab and chassis and to this point have had ZERO problems. I've read on some of the other threads about the problems people have had, but I've had none. All I've done is change the oil and filters. I don't know what I'm doing different, if I'm doing anything different, but this truck has been perfect. I've never been back to the dealer for any service or reflashs. I don't really want them to touch it unless I really need it done. I was going to get my high idle enabled, but I will wait until I need something else done to have that done, again, don't want them touching it unless needed. I did have a smoking issue during regen, check some of my first posts last Dec. about the truck, but that went away after the ULSD became more available in my area. Since then, nothing. I've never put any additive in my fuel, I don't believe it is recommended, not sure on that, but I've never used any.
The truck is working good for me, I'll put another 400+ miles on it tomorrow taking a load of pipe from a location to a pipe yard in Houston.

glad to hear it, mine's almost to 8,000 miles & I've had nothing but good luck also, I have ran some power service additive in it a couple times, but other than that it's had the oil changed & that's it, gonna do the fuel filter & hopefully a cold air intake at 10,000 miles, keep us posted on the mileage & service record, hopefully it won't change any!! thanks for the update! Dusty
Pulling the trailer, average around 10. Could go as low as 8.5 to a high of about 12.5 to 13. Just the truck alone on the few runs I did bobtail, it was between 15 and 16. Been averaging that for the last 25 - 30k miles, so I guess that's what it is going to be. It averages about 1 to 1.5 miles per gal less than my 03 did. This truck also is 1200 lbs heavier
I have had my 6.7 6 speed auto for 13 days, it has 2100 mi currently 17.1
hand calc. My mileage has steadily increased every day I have driven it. I drive about 70% highway 30% city. I run 75 mph on the road and it tach's 1900 rpm. I test drove the 5.9 with the 4 speed it ran at 2100 rpm at 75 mph. That 200 less rpm for the 6 speed has to be doing some good somewhere. Also with the 6.7 6 speed acceleration seems to be more liner which is always a plus for the driver.
I know there is the argument about the blue tech actually causing more fuel consumption but, if you can have more passive re-gens than hard re-gens you should sustain reasonably good mileage. Because most of my driving is on the highway, most of my re-gens have been passive and I believe that is why I am getting reasonably good mileage from a new pickup.
I think the way Dodge currently have the 6.7's setup is like a Thou bred horse it dose it's best when it is let out to run. The problem is, that is just not practical. People buy these trucks to use them any way they want. They should not have to be bothered with a vehicles DPF regeneration. Dodge is smart enough to know this and get them setup correctly.
Just my 2 cents

I beleive these trucks perform much better when they are used for what they are designed for, hard work every day. I've noticed the hot-shots and people who use these trucks to make a living seldom ever have problems. I've put over 300 K towing miles on ctd's and have replaced two leaky pinion seals and a serpentine belt, which was under warranty.i cahnge oil, filter and fuel filter every 10K. I use rotella 5w-40,5 micron baldwin fuel filter and baldwin oil filter.I use no additives and buy fuel all over the country. These trucks are tough and don't need to be over-maintained and pampered.
I also have had no problems with the 6.7 in my new truck with just over 5,ooo miles on it. I pull a 5th wheel arctic fox and two quads behind it, about 13k pounds and am getting between 9 and 10 mpg at 65-70 mph, a little less in the mountains or with alot of head wind. Sounds like that's about as good as I am going to get. The truck is a pleasure to tow with and so far I have no regrets going with the new 6.7. My previous 97 5.9 got a little better mpg though but didn't pull like this new one does for obvious reasons.
Guess I spoke to soon, every since I went to that pipe yard in Houston, I've been having problems. I thought the first one was just a glitch, but it has repeated itself several times now. It finally showed a code, but it doesn't make any sense, it is a code that has to do with the transmission, which is not the problem and I've had no problems with the transmission. The truck dies going down the road and is hard to start and it runs badly after it dies and starts back up. It will finally start running good again after a while, but for how long? I really can't take it on the road with a loaded trailer like this, not knowing if it is going to go or not. If it doesn't show a code, telling the tech to replace something they just throw their hands up, they don't know what to do. H
Hopefully, this can be resolved pretty quickly because when this truck is working properly it is a pleasure to drive doing what I do.

I got my truck back this afternoon after 5:00. They replaced a switch in the transmission and did a reflash on it. It had set a hard code p0766, shift solenoid D, performance or stuck off. I never noticed any problem with the shifting on the transmission but they said the computer said to change it so they did. They also did a reflash, don't know which one, it was after 5 and they said to come by next week and take care of the paper work, I'll find out which reflash was done at that time. They did drive it for 45 minutes with the scanner hooked up and said nothing showed. I don't know what they were looking for, but nothing showed.
I drove it around, starting and stopping, shutting the engine off and restarting it for several more hours with no problems. Guess I'll go back to work tomorrow. I did change the fuel filter, you can change it without taking the wheel off. Just take the inter fender out and you can do it over the top of the tire if you aren't to big. I won't do it that way again, think I pulled all the hair out of my chest.
